OverviewWe're building the data foundation that powers reporting, customer-facing analytics, and AI agents across Storable's Storage, Marine, and RV/Campground products. As a Software Engineer II on the Analytics Platform team, you'll build and operate the services and pipelines that make our data trustworthy, fast, and useful.
You'll work across production APIs, Snowflake, SQL, data modeling, data transformation, orchestration, and cloud-based services. We value strong engineering fundamentals and experience with comparable technologies over exact tool matching.
This is a hybrid role based in our Seattle office two to three days per week.
What you'll do every day- Build and operate production services and APIs that deliver analytics to customers and internal users, owning API design, authorization, latency, caching, testing, deployment, and operational support.
- Build and own incremental, reliable, and rerunnable pipelines that move data from application databases and third-party systems into Snowflake.
- Design data models and pre-aggregations that support interactive queries and deliver consistent answers across dashboards, exports, and AI agents.
- Own the quality and operating efficiency of the platform through automated tests, freshness checks, alerting, query-performance improvements, and Snowflake cost management.
- Partner with analysts and application teams to turn reporting, customer analytics, and AI use cases into shipped features and well-documented datasets.
- Design reliable integration, replay, and recovery strategies by understanding source-system behavior and failure modes.
- Build secure, multi-tenant data access patterns that protect customer data while supporting useful analytics experiences.
- Participate in the on-call rotation and improve the reliability, observability, and maintainability of the services and pipelines you own.
- Use AI-assisted development and testing tools thoughtfully to improve engineering speed and quality while maintaining strong review and operational discipline.
What you need to bring- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, or equivalent experience delivering production systems.
- Experience building and operating production services or data-intensive applications, including testing, deployment, monitoring, and operational support.
- Experience designing and operating a production service, including its API, latency, failure modes, and on-call responsibilities.
- Experience building analytics features or data products for customer-facing applications.
- Strong SQL skills and experience modeling large relational datasets, including grain, keys, history, joins, and performance tradeoffs.
- Experience moving data reliably between systems through incremental loads, replays, and idempotent processing without disrupting source systems.
- Demonstrated experience using AI-assisted tools to improve the quality, speed, or reliability of software development.
- Experience designing secure, multi-tenant authorization for analytics products.
- Experience building BI dashboards or semantic and metrics layers.
- Experience managing warehouse performance, query optimization, and operating cost.
- Ability to work onsite in the Seattle, WA area 2-3 days per week.
Bonus points- Experience with cloud data warehouses, especially Snowflake, or comparable platforms.
- Experience with SQL-based transformation tools such as dbt or workflow orchestration platforms such as Airflow or Dagster.
