The Opportunity

Betterworks is seeking a motivated Software Engineer to join our App Platform team. This role is perfect for a candidate with 2-5+ years of experience who is passionate about platform-level challenges like Authentication, Authorization, and Event-Driven Architecture, and who wants to grow their skills under the mentorship of our experienced Senior and Staff engineers.

We're looking for a motivated Engineer to help us tackle critical platform-level challenges.

What You'll Own

As a Software Engineer at Betterworks, you'll join a high-performing engineering team where you will be mentored by our Senior and Staff engineers.

Develop and enhance core features of our enterprise performance management platform, with a focus on platform-level services.

Collaborate with and learn from Senior and Staff engineers to build scalable, robust systems.

Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of Authentication and Authorization systems.

Build and improve notification services to keep our users informed.

Participate in designing and evolving our Event-Driven Architecture.

Write clean, testable, and maintainable code.

Engage in code reviews and architectural discussions, viewing these as opportunities for continuous learning.
Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in backend development, sharing your knowledge with the team.

What You Bring

Bachelor's degree or certificate in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

2-5+ years of professional full-stack software development experience.

Proficiency in backend languages (e.g., Node.js, Python, or Go) and frontend technologies.

Strong interest in solving platform-level concerns like Authentication, Authorization, Notifications, and Event-Driven Architecture.

Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and effectively utilize mentorship from senior team members.

Solid understanding of RESTful API design.

Experience with databases (relational or NoSQL) and containerization tools like Docker.

Strong communication skills and a collaborative, proactive mindset.

Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.

Nice to Have

Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerization technologies for backend deployments.

Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and best practices for backend deployment.

Experience with AWS, especially services relevant to backend operations.

Familiarity with Agentic Development and Model Context Protocol (MCP).
