About the team and the role: eBay, Inc. seeks Software Engineer 3 in Portland, Oregon
What you will accomplish:
Job Duties: Design high-volume, scalable, secure, fast, reliable, and accessible web applications and software systems. Maintain deep architectural understanding of system design and ability to independently execute a feature/project to completion. Propose trade-offs between feature scope, schedule, resources, and architectural flexibility. Responsible for a functional domain to design cross-data-center distributed, fault-tolerant, highly available, and performant web services and web applications by applying software architecture design, ooa/d skills, in addition to exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills. Own major projects and features from the design phase to coding, testing, deployment, and support. Estimate engineering effort; plan implementation, and rollout system changes. Identify project technical risks and make recommendations to mitigate them. Design and build distributed system applications with high security, high transaction rate, and high availability. Develop automated tests and deliver high-quality software code to production within a short development cycle in the continuous integration and delivery environment. Collaborate with architects in defining the technical charter for eBay's zero-trust architecture products. Work with partners to clarify requirements and deliver business solutions. Implement RESTful API's. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.
What you will bring:
Minimum Requirements: Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering or a closely related field plus five years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
Special Skill Requirements:
1. Design, and bring innovative products and services to market (1 year)
2. Design and build innovative technologies in a large distributed computing environment and help lead fundamental changes in the industry (1 year)
3. Build distributed storage, index, and query systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, low cost, and easy to manage/use (1 year)

5. Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software (1 year)
6. Create solutions to run predictions on distributed systems with exposure to innovative technologies at incredible scale and speed (1 year)

Additional Details
Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
