About the team and the role: eBay, Inc. seeks Software Engineer - 3 in Bellevue, WA

What you will accomplish:
Job Duties: Designing and developing eBay's global affiliate system to connect external partners for effective promotion of eBay items. Architecting and maintaining the affiliate payment system to ensure accurate calculation and processing of partner payouts based on diverse business metrics, including campaign performance, item-level data, and various reporting needs. Building and enhancing large-scale, event-driven data processing and enrichment systems to handle affiliate traffic events. Ensuring reliable integration and synchronization of partner and transaction data across multiple critical platforms, including external vendor Impact, internal systems such as Rheos and Data Lake Studio, and Salesforce for business operations. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements, drive system architecture decisions, and implement scalable solutions that meet compliance, auditing, and data governance standards. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.

What you will bring:
Minimum Requirements: Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field, plus one (1) year of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation. Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field plus five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a related occupation.

Special Skill Requirements:

One year of experience required in each of the following:
  • Large-scale distributed data processing with Apache Flink, Apache Kafka, and internal stream-processing platform Rheos.
  • Workflow orchestration using Apache Airflow and internal Data Lake Studio (DLS).
  • RESTful API design and implementation for enterprise systems.
  • Relational and non-relational databases, including Oracle and NuDocument.
  • Distributed big data systems, including Apache Hive, Hadoop, and Spark.
  • Cloud-native application deployment using Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Third-party vendor system integration with internal platforms and CRM systems.
  • Ads/Affiliate traffic events enrichment & reconciliation system development.
  • Implementing data quality, privacy compliance, and auditing solutions for large-scale ETL and data governance systems.
  • Java and Python programming for backend systems and data pipelines.


Salary: $212,202.00-280,900.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave).
