Full Job Description
The Software Engineer 2 codes software applications based on business requirements. The Software Engineer 2 work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.

The Software Engineer 2 standardizes the quality assurance procedure for software. Oversees testing and debugging and develops fixes. Researches complaints and makes necessary adjustments and/or recommendations to resolve complex software related issues. Understands department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas. Makes decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and requires minimal direction and receives guidance where needed. Follows established guidelines/procedures.

Software Engineer II - Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 -5 years of experience in software development, with a focus on modern web application development.
  • Experience integrating applications with REST and SOAP APIs.
  • Working knowledge of Node.js and modern JavaScript/TypeScript development practices.
  • Hands-on experience developing front-end applications using:
    • React.js
    • Next.js
    • TypeScript
    • HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design principles
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or GCP, including deployment, monitoring, and application scalability.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and version control systems such as Git.
  • Knowledge of security and compliance requirements, including PCI, HIPAA, and CMS standards.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in Agile development environments.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with containerized environments such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with AEM integration and Next.js server-side rendering (SSR), routing, caching, and hydration.
  • Experience supporting production deployments and post-release activities.
  • Exposure to performance optimization, application monitoring, and observability tools.
  • Knowledge in GraphQL, including query and mutation development, and experience with Apollo and/or Relay clients.
  • Understanding of microservices architecture and event-driven systems, including exposure to technologies such as Kafka.


Work at Home Requirements: To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees' ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria: At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is required; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested. In certain roles, the minimum recommended internet speed required by Humana may not be sufficient for business needs. Humana reserves the right to require associates to upgrade their internet service if necessary. Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Pay Range
The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$80,900 - $110,300 per year

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
