Job Description Summary
About the Role

We are looking for aSoftware Delivery Manager / Technical Leadto join our global Services team for WAMS and be our main expert in North America.

This role is ideal for someone who combines strong IT capability with customer-facing confidence. Please note that this role is not a Project Manager or Engineering Manager position. Those responsibilities sit elsewhere in the organisation.

Instead, this is a technical delivery role focused on leading the deployment of enterprise software in customer environments. You will coordinate delivery activity, collaborate closely with internal teams and external customers, and take ownership of technical issues that arise during implementation.

The role combines coordination with hands-on technical work. You should be comfortable planning and driving technical activity, managing customer expectations, and getting into the detail when needed to plan, design, deploy, configure, and troubleshoot software and its delivery.

Most of the wider team is based in Europe and Africa, so once established in the role, you will need to be comfortable working with a good degree of autonomy and making sound decisions independently when required.

This role would suit someone from a background such as IT networking, infrastructure, technical support, systems administration, or software deployment who enjoys solving problems and collaborating directly with customers.

This role is fully remote in the United States.

Within this mission, our WAMS Services team works end-to-end from substation to control room, delivering and supporting solutions across monitoring, analytics, control systems, modelling, and consulting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support all stages of the project lifecycle, from early customer engagement and proposal development through delivery, testing, acceptance, and handover
  • Contribute to the sales and tendering process by supporting technical proposals, defining delivery approaches, and helping to prepare Statements of Work and other project-related documentation
  • Lead the technical delivery of enterprise software deployments in customer environments
  • Coordinate software deployment, configuration, testing, and technical readiness activities and take ownership of those responsibilities
  • Collaborate directly with customers to understand their environment, communicate progress, and manage technical expectations
  • Identify and resolve software, infrastructure, operating system, network, and integration issues during deployment
  • Collaborate with Product Development, Tendering, and Support teams to ensure successful delivery
  • Provide clear updates on technical progress, risks, and issues to the wider project team
  • Support scope, risk, and problem management in coordination with the Project Manager
  • Play a leading role in customer training, system walkthroughs, and user readiness activities
  • Support and participate in customer acceptance testing, helping to ensure successful validation and sign-off
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in delivery methods, quality, and efficiency
  • Support smooth handover to maintenance and support teams at project completion
  • Serve as an escalation point for the maintenance and support team on issues requiring deeper technical insight or delivery context
  • Travel globally, sometimes at short notice, to meet with customers, support on-site deployments and issue resolution. Travel can be up to 20%.

Required Experience

  • Bachelors degree in an IT-related discipline, such as Computer Science, IT Networking, or Software Development, or equivalent relevant experience
  • 5 years of experience with software delivery projects (using Linux and Windows along with others related to grid software)

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working with grid software, such as WAMS, EMS, DMS, DERMS or similar
  • Comfortable dealing directly with customers in a technical delivery, deployment, or support environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting ability
  • Ability and willingness to travel
  • Experience with Kubernetes
