The
Social Media Manager, who sits in the AAAS Office of Communications, oversees the enterprise strategy and content for organizational-level social media accounts with support from the Communications Associate. The Manager collaborates with the communications team on public affairs and digital storytelling campaigns, multimedia development, issues management, and digital analytics. The Manager also coordinates closely with social media managers across the organization, including amplifying content, sharing best practices, managing social media scheduling and listening tools, and providing strategic guidance.
What You'll Do- Oversee strategy, content development and community management for organizational-level social media accounts with support from the Communications Associate and public relations agency of record.
- Partner with the communications team on integrated digital storytelling and public affairs campaigns, organizational and program announcements, executive visibility, and editorial calendar.
- Coordinate with the external affairs track of the communications team and Science social media team on issues management.
- Provide strategic guidance on development of multimedia assets and create assets when appropriate.
- Manage the Marketing Communications (MarComms) Network Social Media Subgroup, including running monthly meetings, providing social media guidance, and coordinating organization-wide campaigns.
- Collaborate with the Digital Communications Manager on digital analytics to inform data-driven decisions and improve performance; participate in cross-department Digital Analytics Group and initiatives.
- Provide paid media expertise across the organization and manage team-led paid media campaigns.
- Manage social media management platforms, including social media scheduling and listening tools.
- Serve as lead strategist for the establishment of social media accounts and presence on any new platforms.
- Stay abreast of best practices in social media to evolve strategy and serve as subject matter expert.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism or another relevant field.
- 5-7 years' experience with social media strategy, tactics, and analytics.
- Experience navigating social media crises.
- Experience managing earned and paid media campaigns.
- Familiarity with building audience profiles and identifying where those audiences engage online.
- Familiarity with AP style, content management systems, and video and social media platforms.
- Experience with project and social media management tools, such as Sprout Social and Meltwater.

The anticipated initial rate of compensation for this position is $90,000 - $95,000 per year.
