Overview

Who we're looking for

Toyota's maintenance department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Group Leader.

The primary responsibility of this role is to Supervise a team responsible for production equipment and plant utilities. Support maintenance activities during daily plant operation. Ensure compressed air, water, electricity, & natural gas operation. Interface and work with production departments and plant management to support line calls and develop team skills. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the person in this role will support the manufacturing operation while ensuring adherence to all Company Policies, State and Federal Laws and the Union Collective Bargaining Agreement.

This position is scheduled for 12-hour rotating weekend shifts (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday), hours are 6 am to 6:35 pm, with occasional weekday work required based on business needs.

This position is based in Long Beach, California. The selected candidate must reside within a commutable distance of the work location.

What you'll be doing
  • Utilizing the principles of Customer First and Respect for People, Lead, Coach and Mentor a team that supports daily Stamping, Welding & Painting equipment maintenance activities with learning and implementing the Toyota Production System with a "Safety First" mindset.
  • Lead a team to respond to equipment issues to not impact and/or minimize downtime to production.
  • Develop process instructions and job safety analysis (JSA) as needed to manage non-standard work.
  • Lead and track activities that support company targets and objectives to achieve key performance indicators such as Safety, Quality, Cost, OR (Operation Availability %), MTTR (Mean-Time-To-Repair) and MTBF (Mean-Time-Between-Failures).
  • Support new equipment installations, upgrades, refurbishment, and demolition.
  • Support and training of Team Leaders & new Team Members through performance coaching/counseling.
  • Lead problem solving activities within the maintenance team to address root cause and effective countermeasures.
  • Develop next generation of Maintenance Team Leaders/Team Members.
  • Support Facilities Maintenance with monitoring, resetting and reporting of equipment issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Fairly apply the TABC corrective action escalation process to ensure consistency (includes safety incidents).


What you bring
  • Supervisory or team leader experience in manufacturing equipment maintenance or a comparable environment.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience programming and troubleshooting PLC systems, including Allen Bradley, Toyopuc, Siemens or comparable platforms.
  • Experience developing standardized work instructions, technical presentations, schedules, and work plans using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook or comparable software.


Added bonus if you have
  • Associate degree or higher in a technical, engineering, manufacturing, or related field.
  • Experience working in a labor union environment.
  • Technical certification, apprenticeship, trade school, or comparable technical training.
  • Working knowledge of FMDS (Floor Management Development System) or comparable daily management system.
  • Working knowledge of workplace organization and 5S (Sift-Sort-Sweep-Spic & Span-Sustain) principles.
  • Experience developing and executing mid-term equipment improvement or reliability plans.
  • Experience with cost management & cost reduction initiatives.
  • Experience with stamping and/or welding operations in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working in automotive or other high-volume manufacturing environments.

The annual base salary range for this position is $103,800.00 - $168,600.00.
