HDR is currently seeking a Site Civil Engineer (PE) for our Building Engineering Services Business Group located in Indianapolis, Indiana. Our team is an integrated facility and infrastructure design team consisting of core services of Mechanical, Electrical, Structural and Site Civil Engineering. This person will be responsible for the design of facility-related sites in support of the Data Center market, initially, with future opportunities to explore a variety of markets including Corporate/Commercial, Healthcare, Education, Municipal, Civic, Industrial, and Sports & Recreation buildings and infrastructure. They will be expected to coordinate and work closely with a multidiscipline design team throughout the entire life cycle of projects from planning stages, through the development of construction documents, and construction administration. Experience in land development and the design of building related site civil (grading, utilities, storm drainage, stormwater management, and erosion control) is required. This individual should be self-motivated, collaborative, and possess strong leadership skills with an initiative to deliver high quality, technically sound design In the role of Site Civil Engineer, we'll count on you to: • Design and produce plan sets, details, specifications, and cost estimates on a wide variety of projects, including site layouts, horizontal and vertical control, grading and drainage, paving, site utilities, and associated civil engineering activitie • Perform calculations in support of the site development (stormwater pond sizing, culvert and pipe capacity analysis, hydrology calcs, etc.) • Function as a Technical Specialist or Project Manager on mid-size projects as needed, but project management is not the sole focus of this position; Serve as the Engineer of Record on non-complex project • Supervise a small staff of professionals and technicians as needed • Author reports that are technically sound, grammatically correct, and well organized • Contribute to the development of civil engineering scope of work and budgets for proposal • Coordinate with internal and external resources to complete all due diligence research and documentation • Understand and meet Jurisdictional requirements in your design and support the Pre-Application process; Coordinate with the Authority Having Jurisdiction to determine design and submittal requirements and coordinate design solution • Transition the concept plans through the schematic and construction design processe • Coordinate with subconsultants for support and design service • Attend and contribute to client meeting • Use engineering judgement to determine the best course of action • Be independent in your pursuit of information and solution • Manage your time and organization of multiple tasks/project • Communicate effectively with managers and team member • Pursue efficiencies within your work and operation • Mentor junior staff and delegate appropriate task • Be an advocate for HDR, the BES Business Group, and the Site Civil team • Perform other tasks that support the mission and vision of HDR and the BES Business Group Preferred Qualifications • A minimum of 3 years' experience in general civil engineering • Proficient and demonstrated applied experience with CAD civil engineering software such as Bentley Open Roads Designer and/or Autodesk Civil 3D; specialty civil platforms (e.g., Openflows) as required Qualifications Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree • Previous experience in general civil engineering • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license. • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills • Proficient with Microsoft Office • Good verbal and written communication skills • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
