Site Civil Engineer in
Austin, Texas. As
Site Civil Engineer, you will serve as an embedded extension of municipal staff, supporting daily engineering functions that keep public infrastructure safe, sustainable, and cost-effective while helping move projects from planning through construction.
What You'll Do
- Oversee capital improvement projects from concept through completion
- Review and approve civil engineering plans for streets, drainage, water quality, and water and sewer infrastructure
- Coordinate with design consultants, contractors, developers, and city departments to keep public improvements aligned with city standards and design criteria
- Support other internal discipline teams in reviews for preliminary plans, site plans, platting, permitting, zoning, subdivision, and utility service requests
- Draft technical reports, council memos, grant applications, and RFPs while maintaining project documentation and regulatory compliance
- Assist with flood damage prevention activities, including day-to-day ordinance administration and hydrologic, hydraulic, and engineering analysis for floodplain delineation and drainage studies
- Review construction change orders and pay applications and respond to field engineering questions as needed during construction public infrastructure related projects.
- Help prepare infrastructure master plans, maintain GIS-based asset data, and prioritize capital projects with supporting budget estimates
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas
- 6+ years of relevant engineering experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software
- Valid driver's license
Preferred
- Experience working in or for a municipal engineering or public works department
- Manage project teams (not direct reports) on a variety of projects and across the entirety of the project. Provide instructions on assignments and follow up to ensure deadlines are met.
- Act as a technical expert inside and outside of FNI in respective engineering field/s
- Familiarity with TxDOT, TCEQ, and FEMA standards
- Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) per Texas Floodplain Management Association (TFMA) or ability to obtain
- Working knowledge of municipal codes, ordinances, and development regulations
- CCM or PMP
