About the roleAs a Shift Supervisor, you will oversee the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the facility during your assigned shift. This includes direct oversight of high-pressure boilers, turbines, steam plant systems, and supporting equipment. You will conduct regular plant rounds, coordinate personnel, and ensure that all activities comply with safety regulations, environmental permits, and state licensing requirements. In emergency or abnormal conditions, you will direct or personally perform required operational actions and coordinate personnel to restore safe operation.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain a safe working environment and ensure adherence to all company policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Maintain plant operations within all environmental limits, permits, and regulatory requirements.
- Supervise the operation of boilers, turbines, and all steam plant systems.
- Respond to injuries, accidents, and operational emergencies.
- Approve equipment clearances, lockout/tagout procedures, and issue safety permits.
- Troubleshoot plant operational issues and coordinate maintenance activities.
- Maximize facility performance, reliability, and efficiency.
- Direct completion of shift, daily, weekly, and monthly inspections, and housekeeping tasks.
- Lead assigned projects from the Operations Manager.
- Train, mentor, and develop shift personnel to build a cross-trained, technically capable workforce.
- Ensure ongoing technical development of all operations personnel.
- Shift Supervisors must maintain all required site-specific and state-mandated certifications.
Requirement- Three plus years of supervisory experience in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Must possess and maintain an active New Jersey Operating Engineer/Boiler Operator license (Black Seal, Blue Seal, Red Seal, or equivalent appropriate to facility equipment).
- Hands-on experience with high-pressure boilers and electric generating equipment.
- Detailed knowledge of steam-generating power plant operations, instrumentation, and control systems.
- Experience in power plant or resource recovery operations preferred.
- High school diploma or GED required, Bachelor of Science degree preferred.
- Ability to work rotating shifts (days/nights), including weekends, holidays, outage periods, and vacation coverage.
Physical Requirements- Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb.
- Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work at heights and within confined spaces.
- Must qualify to wear a full-face respirator.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions.

It is expected that most qualified candidates in this location will fall within the posting range. The final salary offered for this role will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to: experience, education, geographic location, skills and competencies, travel requirements and/or union contracts (if applicable). Pay ranges are reviewed from time to time and may be modified in the future.
The pay range for the primary location of this position is: $118,700.00 - $169,800.00 USD per annum
