Job Overview

This role is to oversee, manage and coordinate a small to mid-size press service organization staff to ensure business goals and customer expectations are successfully met. Other responsibilities include the development of a business plan, activity plan and strategies for service.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Assign Field Service Technician (FST) to projects and manage utilization
  • Coach, teach, and train policies and procedures, coordinate FST training and complete performance reviews
  • Build morale, handle employee disciplinary actions, and other employee relations issues
  • Schedule service work including charged jobs and warranty services, modifications, preventive inspection jobs, and start-up of new machines.
  • Calculate, prepare, and present accurate quotations and final reports for service to customers. This includes contacting sub-contractors, preparing estimates into quotes for service and travel to customer locations for service-related meetings
  • Contact and cooperate with internal and external customers on a regular basis to build customer relationships. Promote and support sales division, service, and parts departments
  • Monitor cost and overall profitability
  • Manage and maintain the area of machines, parts, and service in the showroom in Chicago (Elk Grove)
  • Monitor safety in all activities. Hold a periodic safety meetings
  • Ensure compliance of all company policies
  • Other duties as assigned by management


Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, but a minimum requirement of an Associate's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Business Management is desirable
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience, field service management or project management experience
  • Ability to understand mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic drawings and diagrams.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to lead, motivate, organize, and achieve maximum productivity from direct reports
  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable, and multi-task and prioritize tasks that support the success of Komatsu company initiatives. Ability to manage time well and stay organized to prioritize tasks
  • Demonstrates a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to be forward thinking
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, including, but not limited to, professionals and management
  • Strong decision-making skills to make decisions quickly and effectively to ensure projects progress and stay on schedule
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to dynamic environments
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and remain calm under pressure
  • Solid understanding of PC and common Windows applications (Word, Excel). Experience with SalesForce an asset, but not essential. Interest and ability to learn other software programs used within Komatsu
  • Strong written and verbal communicatio
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Hiring Range

At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays $100,000.00. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
