Job Title: Service Engineer - Americas Customer Team

Working Pattern: Hybrid - 3 in office days a week

Working Location: Washington D.C. (preferred) or Indianapolis, IN

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Service Engineer in the Americas Customer Regional Team. As a Service Engineer - Americas Customer Team, you will primarily provide engineering technical support for Rolls-Royce Trent 800 engines in the Americas region. Tasks will include analysis of engine operation, pre-empting and responding to technical issues, developing, implementing and communicating technical solutions that meet customer, business and regulatory requirements, support day-to-day operational questions from customers, tracking and reporting fleet reliability both internally and externally, and supporting customer reviews. This opportunity will have some domestic and international travel (less than 20%) to engine maintenance centers and customer sites.

What you will be doing:
  • Provide technical support to help resolve technical queries and operational arisings
  • Lead root-cause investigations on safety or reliability in-service events
  • Introduce containment actions and recommend corrective actions
  • Develop and approve the technical content of technical publications/communications (used by OEM, build/commissioning/maintenance bases and customers) including acceptance limit development to support the engine programs and meet the design and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare and deliver technical communications (e.g. presentation and/or reports) to platform provider, regulators, customers, internal stakeholder
  • Ensure compliance with requirements specified by regulatory authorities and to adhere to technical and business requirements of internal & external stakeholders. Where delegated, act as the Technical Authority providing assurance on build, commissioning and maintenance activities
  • Increase the value from our overhaul network through proactive identification of cost reduction activities
  • Gather in-service data and carry out continuous improvement by identifying Best Practice and learning from experience activities, feeding back into future programs and product design teams
  • Represent Rolls-Royce at external customer conferences

Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science in Aerospace Engineering Technology with 2+ years of engineering experience, OR
  • Master's degree in Engineering or Science in Aerospace Engineering Technology, OR
  • PhD in Engineering or Science in Aerospace Engineering Technology


Preferred Requirements:
  • Engineering or Numerical degree (or equivalent with experience)
  • Knowledge of components/ systems functionality and numerical methods
  • Experience of working on complex tasks that are novel and ambiguous
  • Familiarity of the in-service operation environment, including regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Experience in troubleshooting and/or problem resolution
  • Experience in support/lead cross-functional teams e.g. specialists, suppliers, customers, partners
