Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Project Manager/Principal Project Manager. This position is located in Roy, UT. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

What You'll Get To Do:

The selected candidate will oversee and manage the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management. They review status of projects and budgets; manage schedules and prepare status reports. The Project Manager assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. They develop mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.

Responsibilities:
  • Apply industry practices, techniques, and standards-leveraging core concepts and principles-to execute moderately complex professional tasks.
  • Develop solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Operate independently with only general supervision, delivering work that is subsequently reviewed to ensure sound judgment, adequacy, and accuracy.
  • Contribute to the completion of organizational projects and goals while exercising sound judgment to prevent errors that would otherwise require moderate resources to correct.
  • Engage regularly with internal and external stakeholders, representing the organization on project assignments, and delivering presentations to small groups.
  • Applies a comprehensive understanding of principles, concepts, practices and industry standards, leveraging full sector knowledge to independently execute fairly complex professional tasks.
  • Designs and implements solutions to complex problems, drawing on established precedents and policies as needed.
  • Perform complex tasks, help set assignment objectives, schedule and organize activities to achieve those objectives, and ensure work is reviewed for adequacy upon completion.
  • Influence organizational objectives and long range goals; make decisions that, if erroneous or unmet, would seriously affect the administration of the organization.
  • Serves as the organization's primary contact on contracts and projects, engages senior internal and external stakeholders on significant matters that require interorganizational coordination, and develops and delivers presentations.


This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Project Manager: Bachelor's degree and 2 years of related experience; 0 Years with Masters or an additional 4 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Principal Project Manager: Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related experience; master's degree and 3 years' experience; PhD and 1 years' experience or an additional 4 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Must be a U.S citizen and have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business need.
  • At least 2 years of experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule.
  • Demonstrated track record/ experience in project management/ execution and closeout.
  • Skilled use of Microsoft Office Products (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Project).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Project Management principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to establish a solid working relationship with technical staff, peers, and customers.
  • Experience planning, scheduling, and managing projects with many different stakeholders.
  • Experience developing content, packaging, and briefing communication.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization and with outside organizations.
  • At least 2 years of experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule.
  • Understanding and application of Earned Value Management System (EVMS) and Control Account Management (CAM) experience.
  • 2 years of experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS) principles and application as a Control Account Manager (CAM).
  • Experience with establishing Strategy, Roadmap, Vision artifacts.
  • Demonstrated experience using SAP, Windows software packages, Atlassian Tool Suite, and other electronic databases.
  • Proficient in Agile Development.
  • CAM certification.
  • PMP Certification.


Primary Level Salary Range: $65,500.00 - $98,300.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $81,400.00 - $122,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
