Full Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer for an exciting opportunity developing new capabilities for the Sentinel ICBM weapon system at Hill Air Force Base (AFB), Utah. This position will provide expert engineering support to assist the government customer develop requirements for hardware and software on a highly complex program.

This new ICBM program will design, develop, produce, and deploy new payload system suites (reentry vehicles and/or countermeasures). The key payload attributes include enhancements in accuracy, lethality, and ICBM Reentry System/Reentry Vehicle (RS/RV) interoperable operations. Program activities also include the employment of digital acquisitions through the application of digital engineering, agile software development, and open systems architectures.

Responsibilities include:
  • Provide technical advice to Government leaders and engineers.
  • Support requirements development, analysis of alternatives, verification and validation activities, and milestone preparation.
  • Prepare/review engineering analysis reports and key acquisition documents, including RFP packages.
  • Participate in technical interchange meetings, design reviews, program management reviews, certification working groups, and other technical meetings, as required.


The Senior Systems Engineer supports the Program Manager in the execution of program duties. The role provides highly technical expertise and guidance in solving complex hardware/software engineering problems. Additionally, this position provides technical leadership across all phases of hardware/software design analysis, development, integration, and implementation, and requires a candidate capable of determining the appropriate use of technologies to solve engineering problems.

Pursuant to Government contract, this position requires US Citizenship status. This position is only located at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, due to the special-access classified working environment and is not conducive to regular "telework" or remote schedules.

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical discipline with 7+ years of Engineering experience or master's degree in engineering or related technical discipline with 5+ years of Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering experience.
  • 3+ years of progressive responsibility in providing technical leadership.
  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.


Preferred Skills and Education

  • Experience as an engineer on a missile system or complex weapon system in an acquisition environment (especially ACAT I program or ICBM-related experience).
