Rules & decision logic: help design and refine the rules and analytical logic that translate data and model output into clear, defensible results.
Scientific coding: develop well-documented, reproducible scientific analysis, primarily in R.
Writing & communication: write clearly and rigorously for technical reports, publications, and proposals.
Technical leadership: set technical direction across workstreams, review and strengthen colleagues' work, and mentor team members as a senior collaborator across the Science, Modeling, and Platform teams.
Qualifications
The Senior Water Resources Scientist selected should have the following:
PhD in watershed science, hydrology, water resources, environmental or earth science, or a closely related field; or a Master's plus substantial relevant experience (roughly 6+ years).
Demonstrated experience building, calibrating, running, and evaluating hydrologic models.
Strong scientific coding skills in R, with reproducible-research practices (e.g., Git, R Markdown, or Quarto).
Strong scientific writing ability, evidenced by a record of technical writing or peer-reviewed publication.
Ability to work independently and move fluidly across multiple concurrent workstreams.
The Ideal Senior Water Resources Scientist will have the following:
Experience with hydrography datasets and surface-water network representation.
