Full Job Description
Capitol Records is seeking a Senior Vice President, Distribution to lead the strategy, growth and operating performance of its distribution business. This executive will combine creative judgment, commercial acumen and deep distribution expertise to build high-value partnerships with independent labels, artists, managers and content providers. The SVP will serve as the senior liaison among Capitol Records, Virgin Music Group/Ingrooves, digital service providers and internal stakeholders across A&R, Finance, Legal and Business Affairs, Marketing, Commercial Strategy and Operations.

The ideal candidate is a proven leader with extensive knowledge of digital and physical music and video distribution, dealmaking, DSP relationships, release operations, catalog integration and P&L management. Success requires an entrepreneurial mindset, strong executive presence and the ability to translate strategy into disciplined execution while building a high-performing, partner-focused organization.

Job Functions:
• Set and execute the long-term strategy, business plan and growth priorities for Capitol Records distribution, aligned with label and UMG objectives.
• Own the distribution P&L, annual budget, forecasts, revenue performance and investment decisions; identify risks, opportunities and corrective actions.
• Lead the identification, evaluation, negotiation and closing of distribution partnerships in collaboration with A&R, Legal and Business Affairs, Finance and executive leadership.
• Serve as the senior relationship owner for distributed labels, artists, managers and content providers, ensuring exceptional service, retention and partner growth.
• Establish operating standards for release planning, asset and metadata delivery, rights administration, catalog onboarding, reporting and issue escalation.
• Oversee release schedules, priority-setting and cross-functional execution for frontline and catalog projects, including complex migrations and acquisitions.
• Develop strategic relationships with DSPs, distribution platforms and technology partners to improve reach, service capabilities and commercial outcomes.
• Use financial, operational and market data to evaluate business performance, inform partner strategy and present recommendations to senior leadership.
• Build, lead and develop a high-performing distribution team; define roles, goals, accountability, succession plans and professional development priorities.
• Represent Capitol Records distribution internally and externally, championing best practices, innovation and continuous improvement across the business.

Skills/Abilities:
• Executive leadership skills with the ability to set direction, inspire teams and influence senior creative, commercial and corporate stakeholders.
• Exceptional commercial judgment and negotiation skills, with a strong track record structuring and growing artist and label partnerships.
• Deep knowledge of digital and physical distribution, DSP ecosystems, metadata, rights, content delivery, catalog operations and emerging industry models.
• Advanced financial acumen, including direct ownership of P&L, budgets, forecasts, investment cases and performance reporting.
• Strong creative instincts, executive communication and relationship-management skills, with the ability to navigate complexity and make timely decisions.

Experience:
• 12+ years of progressive experience in music distribution, recorded-music operations, label management, commercial strategy or a related field.
• Significant senior leadership experience within a major label, independent distributor, music-services company or comparable organization.
• Demonstrated success owning a P&L, negotiating complex distribution agreements and delivering sustained revenue and partner growth.
• Established relationships across the independent-label, artist-management, DSP and music-technology communities, with experience leading and developing teams.
• Bachelor's degree in business, music industry, communications or a related field preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
