What You Will Do As a Senior Training & Development Specialist within WMS-3, you'll take the lead on complex training programs that support workforce qualification and operational readiness. Job duties include, but are not limited to, the following: - Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of complex training programs that support workforce qualification and operational readiness. - Build strong working relationships with operations, technical organizations, and other stakeholders to ensure training programs meet mission needs and regulatory requirements. - Interpret DOE requirements, Laboratory policies, and other training requirements, and translate them into practical training solutions. - Serve as a subject matter expert on training program development, qualification processes, and compliance requirements. - Develop, maintain, and improve training materials, qualification standards, procedures, and other controlled documentation. - Mentor and provide technical guidance to Training & Development Coordinators and Specialists, helping build capability across the organization. - Lead or participate in assessments, program reviews, incident investigations, and improvement efforts to strengthen training programs and processes. - Coordinate training priorities, schedules, and resources to support changing operational needs. - Contribute to planning activities by identifying resource needs, supporting budget planning, and helping prioritize work across training programs. - Lead or support special projects and emerging training initiatives with organization-wide impact. - Ensure training programs remain aligned with Laboratory requirements, regulatory expectations, and operational needs. - Help capture and preserve critical knowledge by supporting knowledge transfer and workforce continuity efforts. - Deliver or coordinate classroom, virtual, and on-the-job training when needed in support of complex operational environments. - Use feedback, lessons learned, and performance data to improve training programs and strengthen workforce readiness. Qualifications We Desire: - Experience working in DOE-regulated, government, nuclear, defense, or other highly regulated operational environments, including knowledge of DOE training, workforce qualification, operational readiness, and compliance requirements. - Experience working with regulatory agencies or external oversight organizations, including supporting training program assessments, audits, or compliance reviews. - Experience developing training programs and instructional materials using tools such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or similar software, as well as multimedia technologies including video, web-based learning, or eLearning. - Experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS) and enterprise training systems, such as Oracle or similar platforms, to manage training and qualification records. - Experience leading or contributing to root cause analyses, incident investigations, or other continuous improvement efforts that strengthen training programs and organizational performance. - Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to training professionals or other team members. - Knowledge of conduct of operations, facility operations, or Integrated Safety Management (ISM) principles. Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management. Work Schedule: This position may/will require 24/7 coverage, which could/will involve working a shift/weekend schedule. Employees may be eligible for the shift differential pay when assigned by their manager. Shift/weekend assignments are at the discretion of the manager. Position Commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
