Job Summary
The Senior Tester will support an enterprise data modeling transformation initiative by independently reviewing data modeling processes and technology ecosystems, executing structured manual testing of critical workflows, and developing a practical phased strategy for test automation and quality gates. The role will collaborate with data modelers, data engineers, platform teams, and data governance stakeholders to improve the quality, consistency, governance, and release readiness of data modeling artifacts and related metadata.
Key Responsibilities
• Assess end-to-end data modeling lifecycle processes, including intake, design, review, governance, versioning, publication, change management, and release.
• Evaluate data modeling tools and integrations, including metadata catalogs, version control, CI/CD, and work management systems.
• Identify gaps, risks, bottlenecks, and control weaknesses and document findings with prioritized recommendations.
• Review alignment with enterprise data modeling standards, including naming conventions, modeling patterns, and domain boundaries.
• Create and execute manual test plans and test cases for key workflows, including model creation, standards validation, and deployment readiness.
• Document test evidence, defects, and remediation recommendations and support defect triage and retesting.
• Define testing strategies for data modeling transformation outcomes with a focus on quality, governance, and delivery velocity.
• Identify candidates for test automation and recommend appropriate automation approaches and integration points.
• Analyze test results and communicate findings and recommendations to architecture, engineering, governance, and delivery stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
• 7+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, data modeling, QA, or related roles with a strong testing focus.
• Demonstrated experience testing data, metadata, and data modeling workflows.
• Strong experience with data modeling and a solid understanding of logical data modeling.
• Strong knowledge of data modeling concepts, including entities, relationships, keys, normalization, and dimensional versus relational patterns.
• Advanced Excel skills, including experience working with complex worksheets.
• Hands-on development experience with Java or Python.
• Experience with test automation and automation development.
• Strong SQL skills.
• AI/ML fluency.
• Ability to understand business requirements, develop and execute test cases, and analyze test results.
• Experience across all phases of software testing.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
• Experience with Hewlett Packard's ALM/Quality Center.
• Experience with Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Office.
• Proven ability to develop test plans and execute structured manual testing with clear documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with enterprise data modeling tools such as ER/Studio, ERwin, SAP PowerDesigner, or Sparx EA.
• Familiarity with metadata, data catalog, or governance platforms such as Collibra, Alation, Informatica, or Microsoft Purview.
• Experience with CI/CD and automation tools such as GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins.
• Experience implementing automated quality checks, including rules engines or schema validation.
• Experience with Python-based automation and scripting.
• Familiarity with enterprise data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
• Knowledge of the mortgage industry and related data.
