Job Description:
Parsons is seeking an Senior Test Engineer to support our cutting-edge Drone Armor counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS) program. The Senior Test Engineer will lead the planning, coordination, and execution of test events, develop test plans and procedures, configure complex test environments, and manage defect tracking for mission-critical IT hardware, software, systems, and networks.
What You'll Be Doing
Test Planning, Design & Coordination
- Work with developers, end users, and program stakeholders to create detailed test plans and test scripts
- Coordinate with test sites and other team participants to plan and schedule test events for Drone Armor capabilities
- Ensure test objectives, entry/exit criteria, and resource needs are clearly defined and understood
- Write or assist in the development and refinement of test plans, test procedures, and associated documentation
Test Environment Configuration & Execution
- Configure necessary hardware, operating systems, software, systems, and networks as needed to complete assigned testing
- Ensure specialized and operationally representative environments are properly set up and validated prior to test execution
- Execute tests in accordance with approved test plans and procedures, ensuring traceability to requirements
Defect Management, Reporting & Analysis
- Create clear and comprehensive test reports that document procedures, results, anomalies, and recommendations
- Track problems and report on errors identified during test execution, ensuring timely communication and resolution
- Manage the defect database under the guidance of senior QA engineers, including logging, updating, and prioritizing issues
- Analyze defect trends and provide input to improve product quality and test effectiveness
Technical Leadership & Collaboration
- Apply comprehensive technical expertise across IT products, operating systems, software, hardware, systems, networks, and specialized environments
- Collaborate closely with developers, systems engineers, field personnel, and QA teams to reproduce, diagnose, and resolve issues
- Contribute to technical briefings and reviews to communicate test status, risks, and recommendations to program leadership and customers
What Required Skills You'll Bring
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or other engineering or technical discipline is required with 6 years of experience
OR - 8 years of relevant test engineering experience may be substituted for education
Experience
- Experience working with developers, end users, and organizations to create test plans and test scripts
- Experience coordinating with test sites and team participants to plan and execute test events
- Experience creating test reports and documenting test results, issues, and recommendations
- Experience configuring necessary hardware and operating environments to support assigned testing
- Experience writing or assisting in the development of test plans and test procedures
- Experience managing or maintaining a defect database and tracking issues through resolution
Technical Competencies
- Comprehensive technical expertise on IT products, operating systems, software, hardware, systems, networks, and specialized environments
- Strong understanding of test engineering principles, methodologies, and best practices
- Familiarity with test management and defect tracking tools
- Ability to troubleshoot complex system issues across multiple layers (hardware, OS, network, application)
Security & Citizenship
- Must be a US Citizen
- SECRET security clearance
What Desired Skills You'll Bring
Advanced Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related discipline
- Certifications in software testing, QA, or related areas (e.g., ISTQB, ISEB)
Specialized Experience
- Experience supporting DoD, defense, C-UAS, or other mission-critical test campaigns
- Experience with both developmental and operational testing in lab and field environments
Additional Technical Skills
- Experience with automated test tools and frameworks
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integration of testing into DevSecOps workflows
Security Clearance Requirement:
An active Secret security clearance is required for this position.
This position is part of our Federal Solutions team.
Salary Range: $88,400.00 - $154,700.00
