Job Description:

Microchip's fast-growing Microcontroller, Analog and Power Device business is looking for a Principal Reliability Engineer to bring new products to market. Based in our Chandler headquarters, you would be part of Reliability Engineering team tasked with supporting products from multiple business units worldwide. Additionally, you would help shape and influence our overall monitors and product qualification strategy. This position is a senior individual contributor position.

  • Demonstrated expertise in ESD control procedures, clean lab protocols, and safe handling of sensitive Microchip devices.
  • Ability to maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot lab tools and systems, including test fixtures, sockets, thermal systems, and bench setups.
  • Strong skills in documenting lab procedures, test results, equipment usage, and maintenance logs, following Microchip quality and traceability standards.
  • Ability to manage lab inventory, organize tools and fixtures, schedule equipment usage, and ensure efficient day-to-day lab operations.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety, chemical handling, and equipment safety standards, ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven ability to mentor junior technicians/engineers, communicate effectively with engineers and managers, and take ownership of lab-related responsibilities as a senior technical resource.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage several device qualifications at a time.


Requirements/Qualifications:

Education & Experience Requirements:
  • Proven experience loading, unloading, and reworking semiconductor devices on circuit boards, including sockets, DUTs, and test fixtures, using ESD-safe practices.
  • Associate's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field, with 7+ years of hands-on laboratory or semiconductor experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, curve tracers, programmers, and automated test systems.
  • Experience supporting engineering test setups, debugging hardware issues, and assisting engineers with board bring-up and device validation.


Additional Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Self-motivated and take full responsibility for creating lab solutions.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Must adhere to Microchips guiding values.
  • Limited travel: 5% or less.
  • Must be able to lift 40lbs safely.
  • US Person; due to ITAR Lab Requirements.
