Job Description:

We are looking to appoint an experienced Technical Writer to join our team based in Mason, Ohio. The Proposal Writer will play a prime role in the generation of the technical elements of bids and proposals as well as other related documentation in support of Engineering, Business Development, Program Management, and Product Support. The candidate will also assist in organizing the proposal repository, assist in controlling access to data, and support the overall proposal process.

The position is ideal for an individual with very strong attention to detail and a genuine interest and understanding of engineering and electronics. Good communication skills are critical as this role will involve close collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders across Engineering, Business Development, Sales and Marketing, Program Management and Operations.

The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of electronics in space platforms and applications enabling generation of comprehensive technical and management proposal volumes with minimal input from subject matter experts.

Remote work in Ohio will be considered. Preferred onsite in Mason, OH.

Essential Functions:
  • Production, maintenance, update and verification of technical documentation
  • Support to Engineeing, Program Management and Business Development by developing the technical elements of bids and proposals
    • Creating compliance matrices from technical requirements documents and statements of work
    • Creating template for techanical and management proposal volumes based on Section L or equivalent requirements, and populating them with pre-written starting point content
    • Support development of proposal content, including rewriting content from SMEs, writing new content, and editing overall content
    • Ensuring proposal content emphasizes determined win themes and discriminators

  • Support Engineering in technical writing for various internal and external customers, including work instructions, specifications, SDRLs, technical whitepapers, and similar.

  • Support of all products by developing capability definitions and product datasheets
  • Working closely with all the relevant teams across the business to understand the technology, products and services.
  • Supporting overall proposal management tasks, including maintaining, updating and tracking all open, in-process bids and proposals, assisting in charge code creation, and managing B&P database
  • Desktop publishing support, including managing document format, printing and burning digital media as needed, ensuring fonts, page-counts, etc. meet customer requirements.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (English) and minimum 6 years of technical writing experience for space electronics products.
  • Advanced-level competency writing a variety of spacecraft and launch vehicle proposal documents.
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio) and Adobe Acrobat DC.

  • Proficiency with collaboration workspace tools: SharePoint, Teams, Nintex


Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Some engineering exposure, ideally with some form of technical experience in electronics products.
  • Ability to adopt and incorporate AI tools to increase througput and efficiency of the proposal process
  • Use of graphics/image editing software (e.g Adobe Photoshop) for photo manipulation.
  • Basic understanding of technical requirements
  • Understanding reporting processes and applications (Microsoft Dynamics Tableau, PowerBI)
