JOB SUMMARY

This Senior Technical Engineer position is a key member of a technical engineering team, enabling secure and scalable application onboarding to the organization's Secrets Management and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) platforms within a hybrid-cloud environment. The role primarily focuses on HashiCorp Vault-based solutions, involving significant hands-on engineering, deep technical troubleshooting, and cross-team collaboration. The Senior Technical Engineer will act as a subject matter expert, supporting Vault operations and infrastructure, and guiding application teams in integrating secrets, certificates, and authentication mechanisms across enterprise and cloud environments. This role spans the entire technical lifecycle, from intake and analysis to solution design, configuration, build, automation, and ongoing operational support, ensuring secure, reliable, and compliant integrations.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for one or many of the following tasks: analyzing, designing, coding, testing and implementing technical solutions, as well as providing general production monitoring and support, meeting defined scope, target dates and budgets with minimal or no defects.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across IT, product, analytics, and business teams to gather requirements and provide technical solutions that meet organizational needs
  • Monitor work against production schedule and provide progress updates and report any isses or technical difficulties to leadership on a regular basis.
  • Document technical processes and procedures, and participate in technical reviews and knowledge sharing sessions
  • Collaborate on the design and implementation of with architecture to ensure solution alignment to enterprise goals and standards
  • Mentor other associate and intermediate technical engineers as needed
  • Perform technical analysis and provide insights to support decision-making across various departments
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest relevant technologies and industry best practices
  • Other duties as assigned or requested.


EXPERIENCE

Required
  • 5 years of experiences in one or many of the following tasks: analyzing, designing, coding, testing and implementing technical solutions, as well as providing general production support, meeting defined scope, target dates and budgets with minimal or no defects.
  • 5 years of technical problem solving, solution implementation, team/project collaboration
  • 5 years of basic computer science concepts and principles, common operating systems, development languages/scripting


Preferred
  • 2+ years of experience with HashiCorp Vault
  • HashiCorp Vault Associate Certification
  • Experience designing, building, and deploying scalable solution architectures through automation tooling (Terraform, Ansible) and source control (GitLab)
  • Experience working with applications and services hosted inside Google, Amazon, and Microsoft public cloud infrastructure
  • Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining containerized environments (Cloud Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift)
  • Familiarity with Agile workflows
  • Familiarity with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)

Pay Range Minimum:
$94,200.00

Pay Range Maximum:
$151,000.00

Base pay is determined by a variety of factors including a candidate's qualifications, experience, and expected contributions, as well as internal peer equity, market, and business considerations. The displayed salary range does not reflect any geographic differential Highmark may apply for certain locations based upon comparative markets.
