As a Senior Technical Architect, you will define and lead the design of scalable, secure, and innovative technology solutions across complex platforms. You'll work closely with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to translate vision into high-performance systems while remaining hands-on in architecture and solution delivery.
Location: Toronto What You Will Be Doing As a Senior Technical Architect, you will:
- Lead architectural strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technology best practices.
- Design and oversee the development of backend and frontend systems using Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, and React/Next.js.
- Establish technical roadmaps, design patterns, and architecture governance frameworks.
- Set and enforce standards in coding, testing, CI/CD, and DevOps at the architectural level.
- Architect robust APIs and microservices for high-volume, global-scale applications, including payment integrations and emerging technologies like crypto and stablecoins.
- Partner with product, QA, and engineering teams to deliver production-ready, maintainable solutions.
- Drive refactoring initiatives and manage architectural debt to maintain a healthy, adaptable codebase.
- Design cloud-native architectures leveraging AWS (API Gateway, Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB) and AWS SAM for serverless development.
- Define secure, scalable, and cost-effective infrastructure patterns.
- Promote infrastructure as code and modern DevOps practices to accelerate delivery and ensure reliability.
- Serve as a key technical authority, guiding teams through architectural decisions and resolving complex challenges.
- Communicate architectural strategies clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Champion Agile principles while fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
What We're Looking For - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years in software engineering, with at least 3+ years in an architecture-focused role.
- Expertise in Java and Spring Boot; strong experience with Node.js, React/Next.js, and microservices.
- Proven AWS skills, especially in serverless architecture and services like API Gateway, Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB, and AWS SAM.
- Experience with payment gateways, international payment rails, or blockchain/crypto integrations (strong plus).
- Advanced knowledge of RESTful APIs, OAuth, and relational/NoSQL databases.
- Strong advocate for CI/CD, automated testing, and Agile delivery.
- Excellent ability to convey architectural concepts and mentor cross-functional teams.
