Opportunity Overview

The Senior Team Leader, Mutual Fund Operations is responsible for leading a highly complex, high-risk operational function supporting mutual fund trading, processing, reconciliations, and client servicing activities. This role drives operational excellence through strong people leadership, process modernization, risk management, and strategic execution.
As a key leader within Operations, the Senior Team Leader is accountable for delivering exceptional service outcomes, maintaining regulatory compliance, strengthening vendor partnerships, and advancing automation and transformation initiatives that improve scalability, efficiency, and the client experience. The role requires sound judgment, deep operational expertise, and the ability to lead through complexity in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership
  • Lead the end-to-end performance of complex Mutual Fund Operations functions, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant execution of daily operational activities.
  • Oversee a broad portfolio of processes including trade corrections, trade rejects, PAC/SWP administration, omnibus processing, off-book account support, reconciliations, fund facts processing and delivery, and large-scale operational initiatives.
  • Ensure achievement of service level objectives while balancing risk mitigation, regulatory requirements, and client experience expectations.
  • Monitor operational performance metrics and implement action plans to improve productivity, quality, and service delivery.
People Leadership
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development for a team of up to 15 associates, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive talent development through ongoing coaching, performance management, succession planning, and career development initiatives.
  • Empower team members and frontline leaders to make informed decisions while maintaining appropriate controls and escalation practices.
Operational Transformation & Continuous Improvement
  • Lead modernization efforts by identifying operational inefficiencies, process gaps, and technology opportunities that improve workflow effectiveness and scalability.
  • Champion automation, process optimization, and operational excellence initiatives that enhance control environments and improve client outcomes.
  • Utilize data analytics and operational insights to support informed decision-making and drive measurable business results.
Risk & Regulatory Management
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate operational, financial, regulatory, and client service risks across multiple systems, functions, and processes.
  • Maintain a strong control environment while ensuring adherence to internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Exercise sound judgment in managing complex, non-routine situations with significant business, client, or financial implications.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
  • Develop effective partnerships with Risk, Compliance, Technology, Internal Audit, External Audit, fund companies, and operational business partners to achieve enterprise-wide objectives.
  • Strengthen oversight of external vendors and fund company relationships, ensuring service quality, performance standards, and compliance expectations are consistently met.
  • Represent Mutual Fund Operations in enterprise initiatives, strategic projects, and industry discussions as required.
Subject Matter Expertise
  • Develop and maintain deep expertise in Mutual Fund Operations, including trading processes, processing workflows, regulatory requirements, and supporting systems.
  • Provide leadership and guidance regarding complex operational issues and emerging business challenges.


Position Requirements

Required
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience leading operational teams within a financial services environment.
  • Minimum 3 years of people leadership experience, including coaching and development of high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex operational processes involving financial, regulatory, and client service risk.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred
  • Canadian Securities licensing, or FINRA Series 7 and/or Series 99.
  • Knowledge of Mutual Fund Operations, including trading, processing, reconciliations, and related regulatory requirements.
  • Experience leading operational transformation, automation, or process improvement initiatives.
