SALARY RANGE: $80,000 - $95,000+

LOCATION: Toronto Office; 5 days/week in office.
ROLE SUMMARY:Ensures the company complies with tax laws while identifying opportunities to optimize its tax position through strategic planning, accurate reporting, and audit support
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Tax Compliance: - Prepare monthly tax provisions and assist with support to preparing income tax returns.
- Perform detailed review of monthly non-resident withholding tax and prepare the annual NR4 returns based on the monthly withholding tax remittances.
- Prepare annual Country by Country Reporting submission, Pillar II deliverables, US tax submission, and T106 information returns.
Tax Payments:- Work with the Business Solutions Centre to ensure payments are made timely and accurately.
- Prepare monthly remittance and cheque requisition for income tax
- Prepare and maintain annual tax payment schedules and monthly payment forecast. Perform analysis on tax payment estimates vs actuals.
Government Audit / Correspondences:- Manage government incentive claims and desk audits and reviews.
- Gather supporting documentation for government audits.
- Corresponds with the government for authorization requests, business tax inquiries, reconciliation of statement of accounts, etc.
Documentation & Record Keeping:- Maintain accurate and organized records of tax-related documents.
- Gather all requested items and prepare for documentation to provide to parent company for apostille process.
Ad hoc Duties:- Review Capex for tax depreciation purposes; work with consultants to provide documentation for their review and recovery purposes.
- Assist consultants with transfer pricing information requests and provide supporting data for the preparation of transfer pricing documentation and reports.
- Assist with indirect tax projects as needed.
- Provide support for special projects and initiatives as needed.
- Perform reconciliation of various government statements of accounts.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:- Minimum of 2 years of tax experience in a professional accounting firm and/or relevant industry.
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Excellent organization, and ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- SAP and TaxPrep experience is preferred.
- Technical knowledge of Canadian Income Tax Act, CPA In-Depth and/or GST/HST course an asset.
- Prefer CPA designation or pursuing CPA designation.
- Bilingualism considered to be an asset (English and French).
