Description

Tyto Athene is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to support USSF's SSC family of systems. SSC equips the joint warfighter with space control systems to gain, maintain, and exploit space superiority. SSC executes cradle to grave responsibility for weapon system development, fielding, and sustainment. The candidate will support the Space Electronic Warfare Operating Location (SEWOL) and Remote Modular Terminal (RMT) team in the SSC/SZWC branch which provides its customers with space electronic warfare capability. As such, the position will be responsible for systems engineering in support system procurement, development and sustainment. This position will be part of a fast-paced team helping shape the environment of this fledgling program.

Responsibilities:
  • Interact with Government sponsors to test new capabilities on existing and developing space electronic warfare architectures, operations and test infrastructure.
  • Provide technical systems engineering support on Integrated Program Teams focused on software development.
  • Leverage modeling and simulation tools in systems engineering and product design for prototyping, testing, and optimization of designs
  • Provide systems engineering support to the SEWOL and RMT enterprise analysis efforts (e.g., Modeling & Simulation (M&S), Analyses of Alternatives, Prototype Development) to help define needed future capabilities and required supporting infrastructure
  • Provide engineering level documentation used to build requirements documents
  • Interact with industry and mission partner to capture current and future needs of SEWOL and RMT.
  • Review test plans, test procedures, and test reports
  • Assist in development of performance-based logistics as a strategy for cost-effective system support
  • Assist in requirements development
  • Participate in technical meetings and government-led studies assess customer requirements
  • Conduct modernization planning activities, including development, usage, data collection, modification, interoperability, integration, analysis, maintenance, and documentation
  • Write/review preliminary and final technical reports to support fielding decisions.
  • Support detailed development activities such as: research/identify equipment needs, test resource requirements, etc.
  • Assist in the execution of acquisition strategies, including drafting statement of work, statement of objectives, request for proposal preparations, monitoring deliverables, and attending acquisition related meetings
  • Supports terrestrial space electronic warfare systems acquisition, development, and sustainment, covering fixed, deployable, and virtual systems.
  • Provide engineering level documentation to enable testing and reporting.
  • Review industry system developer test plans, test procedures, and test reports.
  • Aid contractors and review/maintain an integrated master schedule.
  • Assist in development of performance-based logistics as a strategy for cost-effective system support.
  • Participate in technical meetings and government-led studies assess customer requirements.
  • Conduct modernization planning activities, including development, usage, data collection, modification, interoperability, integration, analysis, maintenance, and documentation.
  • Write/review preliminary and final technical reports to support fielding decisions.
  • Support detailed development activities such as: research/identify equipment needs, test resource requirements, etc.

Qualifications

Required:
  • US Citizen
  • Bachelor's degree with 15+ years of relevant work experience. An experience substitution is acceptable for those conferred a Masters Degree with at least 7.5 years related experience or PhD with 3 years of related experience.
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following systems or other engineering areas: requirements development, architectures, interfaces, systems integration, test and evaluation, verification, and validation
  • Communications and coordination skills with technical team members across multiple organizations to plan, execute, and post-process test activities and data

Desired:
  • Space Electronic Warfare and/or Space Test and Training Range (STTR) experience STEM Master's degree in Systems Engineering or other engineering disciple with at least 7.5+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Understanding of the operational and joint planning environment. Proficient in space planning and tasking cycle concepts and applying that to EW mission. Knowledgeable level sufficient to lead the integration between the operational CCMD systems down to the tactical Mission Delta 3 level
  • Highly desired to have experience working in space Electronic Warfare tactical units and/or Combatant Command experience in joint planning, targeting, exercises and operations.Proficiency in communications concepts for DoD and/or commercial applications, including waveforms, protocols, and/or architecturesFamiliarity with Space Control Operations and concepts
  • Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP)
  • Experience with Agile Methodologies
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to support interaction with Government, A&AS, SETA, FFRDC, external stakeholders and other development contractors
  • Valid US passport and willingness to travel overseas for short-duration temporary duties

Clearance:
  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility


Compensation:
  • Compensation is unique to each candidate and relative to the skills and experience they bring to the position. The salary range for this position is typically between $140,000-$190,000. This does not guarantee a specific salary as compensation is based upon multiple factors such as education, experience, certifications, and other requirements, and may fall outside of the above-stated range.
