Nordson Electronic Solutions, a global leader in precision dispense, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team in Carlsbad, CA as a Senior Application/System Engineer.

Summary of the role

As a member of our global sustaining team, a Senior Application/System Engineer is responsible for supporting a complete and complex framework, system or product. Defines processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility. Identifies, analyzes and resolves system design weaknesses of supported products. Influences the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework used across multiple products or systems. Provides multi-layered technical expertise for solving complex and multi-faceted internal and external system issues.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and troubleshoots supporting subsystems and integration of total system.
  • Coordinates, identifies, analyzes and resolves program support deficiencies with NPD on DFM
  • Develops and recommends corrective actions.
  • May conduct feasibility studies on new and modified designs.
  • Exercises independent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for results.
  • Work leadership may be provided by assigning work and resolving problems.
  • May direct support personnel in preparation of detailed design, design testing, prototype fabrication and/or manufacturing.
  • Plans the labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing and evaluating standard and special devices.
  • Fully responsible for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating assignments.
  • Regularly interacts with Top Customers in high pressure situations.
  • Owns and drives to closure Top Customer escalated field issues
  • May have to regularly coordinate across global time zones
  • Author Software Requirements Documents (SRDs) for system-level SW issues or features
  • Other duties may be assigned as required.


Skills and Qualifications

Requires BS or MS degree and 7-10 or more years of experience or 15 or more years of relevant equivalent experience.
  • Experience utilizing 8D, A3 and 7-Step troubleshooting methodologies
  • Experience with statistical analysis and tolerance stack-ups
  • Experience in robotics, precision dispensing, metrology or similar industries
  • Familiar with vision systems
  • Use of Programming Logic Controllers (PLC) and National Instruments devices for testing preferred
  • Project management with demonstrated ability to assess critical-path, actively develop mitigations and drive closure
  • Adaptable to changing priorities
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated skills steering technical discussions in high pressure situations
  • Well organized self-starter; ability to plan & coordinate tasks.
  • Proven ability to work effectively alone or part of a larger project team environment; collaborates across organization and different regions

Compensation

Salary range for this position is: $125,000 to $150,000 annually.

The base pay range for this job level is a general guideline and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity, business considerations, and local market conditions, as well as candidate qualifications, such as education, experience, and skills
