Senior Systems Engineer I. In this role, you will lead the design and integration of electromechanical subsystems and contribute significantly to system-level engineering of advanced electrical power solutions. You will take ownership of key portions of system architecture, requirements development, and technical execution across the product lifecycle-from concept through validation and production. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet performance, safety, and reliability requirements, while working to resolve system integration challenges and ensure alignment across engineering disciplines. In this role you will get to:- Lead system design and validation for significant subsystems or product areas.
- Own key portions of system architecture, requirements definition, and traceability.
- Influence trade studies and key design decisions.
- Drive system integration, testing, and validation, including troubleshooting of complex issues.
- Engage stakeholders early to expose sourcing, certification, compliance, and manufacturing constraints before they reach the critical path.
- Collaborate across engineering disciplines and functions, and reinforce Trystar's systems-engineering standards.
- Mentor early-career engineers.
- Contribute to project planning and effort estimates, and support project stage-gate and release-readiness reviews.
- Convert learning into reusable design rules, workflows, and platform building blocks.
Job RequirementsBASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or a related engineering field; a master's is a plus.
- 3-7 years of experience in electromechanical systems, with a focus on electrical power systems.
- Familiarity with systems-engineering methods (architecture, requirements, integration).
- Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical engineering principles as they relate to power distribution, conversion, quality, and system integration.
- Proven experience in testing, validation, and troubleshooting of electromechanical systems.
- Familiarity with the industry standards and regulations that apply to electrical power products.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and other relevant software.
- Travel: up to 20% within the USA, as driven by business needs.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in research and new product development.
- NFPA 70E certification.
- Knowledge of UL standards such as UL1008, UL508A, UL1691, UL489, UL924, UL1741, and UL9540, and code differences across NFPA 70, 101, and 99.
- Experience with modeling software for mechanical and electrical design (SolidWorks / SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD / AutoCAD Electrical).
- Experience with ERP, PLM, and engineering/product-data-management (Vault) software.
- Experience working with vendors, suppliers, consultants, and contract manufacturers.
- Basic project management skills, with the ability to lead technical teams.
- Experience with renewable energy, microgrids, energy storage, or power conversion technologies.
