Job Overview

We are seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to join our team. You will serve as a technical leader responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle, stability, high availability, and security of in-house software systems and distributed network infrastructure. Additionally, you will direct system administration teams, automate operational workflows, and strategically align technology deployments with overarching business objectives to ensure optimal performance. This position is in Richmond, VA.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Infrastructure Lifecycle & Network Operations
    • System & Network Deployment: Plans, develops, installs, configures, and maintains all network software, servers, applications, and communication links across local and remote deployment sites.
    • Advanced Networking & Fault Tolerance: Applies advanced technical knowledge of application networking- including application load balancing and fault tolerance configurations-to ensure highly available and stable computer software systems.
    • Systems Maintenance: Delivers comprehensive lifecycle support, encompassing new installations, routine upgrades, and remote/local maintenance of operational systems.
  • Performance Optimization & Automation
    • Capacity & Performance Engineering: Conducts rigorous capacity planning and performance analyses to provide actionable recommendations for system configuration changes and infrastructure upgrades.
    • Process Automation: Develops and implements automated tools and scripts to maximize system administrator efficiency, accuracy, and operational throughput.
  • IT Leadership & Strategic Alignment
    • Team Direction & Day-to-Day Operations: Organizes, directs, and oversees the work of other system administrators to ensure optimal resource utilization and effective daily system administration.
    • Strategic Technology Consulting: Provides forward-looking recommendations on technology direction to seamlessly align IT capabilities with the organization's broader business vision.

  • Security & Vulnerability Management
    • Risk Mitigation: Performs continuous vulnerability management to safeguard network integrity and ensure that all information systems comply with operational security standards.
Required Qualifications:
  • DoD 8570 IAT Levell II or III.
  • Server Admin M and Domain Admin Z certified (Cloud or Microsoft Operating System) or equivalent certifications.
  • A bachelor's degree in a technical discipline.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of specialized experience in the field of Information Processing, where the majority are specialized in numerous specialized Information Processing disciplines involving a range of hardware/software solutions.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of concentrated, hand-on experience in installing, configuring, maintaining, and resolving issues with various software.
Clearance Requirements:
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must possess a DoD current Secret clearance.
