Full Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:

Under general direction, provides technical leadership for the systems operating environment in ways to ensure availability, performance, reliability, security and compliance. Develops solutions in accordance with standards, policies, benchmarks and guidelines. Analyzes audit trails to detect security violations and makes recommendations to improve security and participates in investigations as needed. Plans and schedules hardware and software repair and installations and performs structural changes when necessary. Leads the implementation of contingency plans including reliable backup and restore procedures. Selects and prepares user training materials. Coordinates system development activities with other groups and participates in short- and long-term planning. This is a non-supervisory position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Systems Specifications: Determines systems specifications, input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility. Ensures that the infrastructure solutions designed and in use align to the business strategy and direction.
System Solutions: Develops solutions in accordance with standards, policies, benchmarks and guidelines for managing the infrastructure now and in the future, maximizing availability, supportability and operability.
Scripting Automation: Provide guidance to the team on automation for integrity and availability of the system.
Systems Integration: Ensures compatibility with existing and emerging infrastructure and services.
Testing: Leads the system integration testing of operating systems, system utilities and hardware upgrades, as well as new software and hardware technologies. Ensures that tests evaluate all possible impacts of new technology on the current infrastructure.
Performance Monitoring: Maintains optimal performance of infrastructure resources. Defines and ensures continuous monitoring procedures are set according to the standard procedures and requirements. Forecasts utilization patterns and identifies modifications or upgrades.
Data Interface: Oversees overall data interface daily job operations and infrastructure systems. Makes projects for architectural improvement. Meets with data interface users to discuss business requirements when there is a new interface request, and recommends options.
Archival Systems: Manages Archival Systems infrastructure, including installation, upgrade, configuration, job scheduling, job monitoring, and supporting users globally. Performs architecture review periodically with users and vendors. Works with auditors, security groups, and data owners periodically to make sure of governance, regulations, and compliance.
Account and Access Management: Defines procedures for user access to systems environment. Ensures procedures are followed.
Installation and Configuration: Prepares overall installation plans based on the system delivery schedule, ensuring coordination of schedules with staff, vendor or other teams.
System Security: Analyzes audit trails to detect security violations. Makes recommendations to improve security and participates in investigations as needed. Ensures conformity with industry security best practices. Installs security software and updates virus software definitions. Reports security issues when appropriate.
Maintenance: Performs routine maintenance tasks for infrastructure systems; backups, patch management and hot fixes. Establishes requirements, methods and procedures.
Production Support: Provides 24X7 production support. Troubleshoots, diagnoses and corrects hardware, software and network problems. Plans and schedules hardware and software repair and installations. Performs structural changes when necessary. Ensures that system infrastructure is maintained according to lifecycle management standards and policies.
Business Continuity: Leads the implementation of contingency plans including reliable backup and restore procedures. Maintains inventory of spare hardware.
Policies and Procedures: Supports and establishes systems environment standards. Produces and maintains system operating procedures and documentation.
IT Projects: Participates in and may lead projects to implement or enhance IT services. Coordinates systems development activities with other groups. Provides input to group budget. Participates in short- and long-term planning.
Knowledge Sharing: Participates in peer knowledge sharing groups.
Emerging Technologies: Evaluates future technologies and makes recommendations for software and hardware upgrades. Reviews vendor proposals for new hardware and software.
Mentoring: Mentors less-experienced staff.
On-Call: Participates in on-call schedules and duties.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Demonstrated Experience implementing and managing industry best practices including systems and network hardening, IPS systems, antivirus systems, patch management, disaster recovery and business continuity, etc.
• Demonstrated experience in network routing, DNS management, Active Directory management
• Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting system anomalies with other technicians and members of other work teams.
• Demonstrated experience in configuring and administering a Mobile Device Management stack (Intune, Verizon MDM)
• Experience with cloud-based tools and products
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Knowledge of a broad range of hardware and software products including Office 365, Aruba, Palo Alto, Fortinet Switches, Veeam and Cisco.
• Experience in implementing and maintaining Windows and Linux Server operating systems.
• Experience in advanced Active Directory management including GPO,s multi-level Domains, Radius, and/or LDAP.
• Experience with network and systems management systems such as PRTG
• Experience in creating and managing Microsoft Azure virtual environments
• Knowledge of VMWare ESX server virtualization technologies
• Knowledge of scripting and automation techniques using powershell, python and sql.
• Skill in performing system and software upgrades, patches, etc., by documenting steps needed and coordinating changes through a formal change management process.
• Skill in monitoring vital system statistics such as CPU utilization, disk space usage, etc., and reporting information to senior administrators and management, and implementing corrective actions.
• Experience with VOIP systems
• Knowledge of requirements analysis and project management techniques.
• Skill in operations management tools and processes.
• Skill in maintaining and researching technical documentation.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or technical institute degree/certificates.
• Five (5) years of related information technology work experience and relevant Windows systems administration experience.
• May consider equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATION, LICENSE AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Requires a valid driver's license.
• Network+ and Security+ required. CCNA, Azure, PCNSA preferred.
• Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check. Applicants with class B or higher misdemeanors are not eligible.
