Overview

The Senior Supplier Strategy Manager will manage a portfolio of supplier sourcing and contractual engagements and maintain working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This role will develop and implement short- and long-term supplier partnership strategies to support MSD's business, operational, and engineering needs.

Responsibilities include end-to-end supplier strategy, negotiations and contracting, supplier management, and compliance in collaboration with assigned internal partners.

The Senior Supplier Strategy Manager will work across functions and independently to address complex business needs and manage changing priorities. Responsibilities include:
  • Develop long-term sourcing strategies for complex global categories by assessing supplier pricing, costs, capabilities, and capacity.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to support decisions aligned with global strategy, technical roadmaps, business requirements, risk considerations, investments, supplier dynamics, and technology partnerships.
  • Lead strategic supplier selection by translating business requirements into requests for information and requests for proposals, defining evaluation criteria, conducting negotiations, and developing agreements and statements of work.
  • Coordinate across organizations to establish governance practices and support compliance with applicable best practices and Microsoft policies.
  • Manage internal and external expectations, performance goals, and contractual commitments through monthly or quarterly business reviews and escalation processes.
  • Use Microsoft technologies, including Copilot and other Microsoft applications, to support business outcomes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Partner with stakeholders and leaders across IT engineering, technical services, software, software as a service, networking, and hardware portfolios.
  • Define business and operational objectives and support teams in achieving or modernizing them.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and support customer-focused decision-making.
  • Prepare clear written and verbal communications for executive and stakeholder audiences and apply analytical methods to inform recommendations and decisions.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Business, Finance or related field AND 3+ years experience in data science/analytics, finance, project management, supply chain, and/or operation
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Business, Finance or related field AND 4+ years experience in data science/analytics, finance, project management, supply chain, and/or operations
    • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Business, Finance or related field AND 6+ years experience in data science/analytics, finance, project management, supply chain, and/or operation
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Business, Finance or related field AND 8+ years experience in data science/analytics, finance, project management, supply chain, and/or operation
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience sourcing and contracting for technology products and services, including hardware, software, and services, in collaboration with global suppliers.
  • Experience managing large-scale organizational change and working within a matrixed organization.
  • Experience applying strategic planning, leadership, and relationship management practices.
  • Experience coordinating and influencing outcomes across multiple teams or groups within an organization.
  • Experience identifying risks and implementing mitigation plans.
  • Knowledge of end-to-end engineering processes and related priorities.
  • Ability to communicate information in writing and verbally to relevant audiences.
  • Experience considering customer needs when evaluating decisions and developing processes that support corporate, operational, and sourcing objectives.
  • Experience identifying process improvement opportunities and supporting change initiatives.

Sourcing and Category Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $97,600 - $188,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $125,000 - $206,400 per year.
