Senior Superintendent • Datacenter Jackson, Georgia Job Summary: The Senior Superintendent is a key field leader responsible for managing and directing all on-site construction activities for complex projects or multiple phases of large-scale work. Working closely with the Project Manager and project leadership, the Senior Superintendent ensures that safety, quality, schedule, and budget objectives are consistently achieved. This role provides advanced technical oversight, leads field teams, mentors junior superintendents, and drives the overall execution strategy for the project.
The Senior Superintendent must demonstrate strong leadership, deep construction knowledge, and the ability to proactively solve problems while maintaining excellent relationships with owners, design partners, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Primary Duties: - Oversee day-to-day field operations for major project scopes or full project execution.
- Coordinate and schedule the work of tradespeople, subcontractors, professionals, and laborers.
- Lead preconstruction meetings with subcontractors prior to each phase of work.
- Provide direction to Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, and Foremen, ensuring alignment with project goals.
- Participate in and help lead owner, architect, and design coordination meetings.
- Develop and maintain site logistics plans, crane plans, and phased jobsite utilization plans.
- Contribute to the development and management of the CPM schedule, including short-term look-aheads.
- Evaluate field progress against the plan and develop recovery strategies when needed.
- Plan manpower and personnel needs to support production goals.
- Provide advanced oversight of safety, quality, risk, and compliance for the project.
- Lead toolbox talks, safety briefings, and site inspections.
- Ensure strict adherence to OSHA standards, company safety procedures, and site-specific requirements.
- Manage the QC process, including inspections, documentation, and corrective actions.
- Interpret and utilize project drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Perform constructability reviews and provide input during preconstruction.
- Ensure as-built drawings and revision logs are maintained and communicated to subcontractors.
- Review and verify quantity takeoffs and materials management during buyout and execution.
- Oversee equipment needs for the project (cranes, trucks, trailers, etc.).
- Track project milestones and ensure timely completion of phases.
- Manage punch list development, execution, and closeout procedures.
- Support the permit process and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Document and report site activities, progress, and issues to project leadership.
- Mentor junior superintendents and field staff, providing coaching and performance feedback.
- Represent the company professionally in meetings, interviews, and presentations.
- Foster strong relationships with owners, architects, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Uphold company values, ethics, and code of conduct in all interactions.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Equivalent experience or training may substitute for degree.
- Minimum of 8• 10 years of industry experience, including leadership of major scopes or full projects.
- Experience managing scopes or projects valued at $250MM+.
- Strong understanding of planning, scheduling, and construction sequencing.
- Solid knowledge of MEP systems and associated risk factors.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and construction technology platforms.
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, blueprints, manuals, and engineering/architectural drawings.
