Full Job Description
About The Opportunity

A vertically integrated food company runs on thousands of decisions a day: what to order, what to make, what to move, what to ship, what to cut. Those decisions happen across dozens of facilities, hundreds of operators, and a supply chain that is growing in both scale and complexity. The systems behind those decisions have to be correct, fast, and durable - when they fall behind reality, food is wasted, orders go short, and the experience breaks down.

We're looking for a Senior Staff Engineer to set the technical direction for those systems. This is a hands-on, backend-heavy individual contributor role on our Supply Chain Technology team.

You'll own cross-system architecture across ordering, planning, production, inventory, and fulfillment, spanning several technical areas and the teams that depend on them. You'll partner closely with product, design, data, and operations, and act as the technical leader other engineers check their designs against.

The Impact You Will Make
  • Designing and implementing the core services behind ordering, planning, production, inventory, and fulfillment.
  • Leading development efforts across several technical areas at once, and supporting the teams that contribute to them.
  • Creating cross-system technical designs that balance operational requirements with technical quality.
  • Defining the event models, service boundaries, and data contracts that other teams build against.
  • Building scalable services that integrate with inventory, warehouse, and third-party supplier systems.
  • Establishing patterns and practices for robust error handling and sytem resilience.
  • Mentoring senior and staff engineers, and setting the bar in code reviews and architectural decisions.
  • Driving design reviews and postmortems toward systemic fixes rather than symptomatic ones.
  • Developing solutions that optimize network throughput, inventory accuracy, and cost.

What You Bring to the Table
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 9+ years of experience in backend software engineering, including time at a staff level or equivalent scope.
  • Strong system design skills and a track record of architecting, shipping, and operating production services.
  • Deep proficiency in at least one JVM language. We primarily use Kotlin.
  • Experience owning a technical domain end to end, from data model to production operations.
  • Track record of leading cross-team technical initiatives through influence rather than authority.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical challenges of any complexity.
  • Track record of mentoring senior engineers and raising the engineering bar of the teams around you.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to lead technical discussions with product, design, and operations partners.
  • Project management experience is a plus.

Got these? Even Better
  • Experience with complex supply chain, logistics, or warehouse management systems.
  • Event sourcing and CQRS, including event schema design, replay, and projection rebuilds.
  • Strong proficiency in Kotlin and the JVM ecosystem.
  • Knowledge of gRPC service implementation.
  • Inventory management, production planning and scheduling, or demand forecasting systems.
  • Working with large-scale operational datasets.

Our hybrid model requires 3 days a week in the office. That said, many team members choose to come in more often to take advantage of in-person collaboration and connection. You're welcome-and encouraged-to be in the office up to 5 days a week if it works for you.
