Your Charter:Own the structural dynamics and validation strategy for robotic subsystems by translating operational requirements into validated engineering models and test methodologies. This role is critical to 1X's ability to deliver robust, high-performing robots by ensuring designs meet demanding requirements for shock, vibration, durability, and control stability throughout the product lifecycle.
Key Outcomes:- Define and maintain statistically significant load cases that accurately represent real-world robotic operating conditions across critical sub-assemblies.
- Deliver validated shock and vibration models that correlate with physical test data and remain aligned with rapid design iterations.
- Improve product durability, NVH performance, and control stability through structural dynamics analysis and cross-functional design feedback.
- Lead structural validation activities from instrumentation strategy through data acquisition, analysis, and model correlation.
- Identify and resolve structural dynamics issues contributing to instability, vibration, or acoustic noise in robotic systems.
Minimum Requirements:- Strong foundation in structural dynamics, vibration, and durability engineering.
- Experience using commercial FEA tools such as ANSYS or Abaqus for harmonic and transient dynamic analysis.
- Proven experience validating analytical models using empirical test data.
- Hands-on experience setting up and executing structural test campaigns, including instrumentation and DAS workflows.
- Experience analyzing shock and vibration performance in multi-material systems including metals and polymers/plastics.
- Preferred Skills:
- Experience working on robotic, automotive, aerospace, or other highly dynamic electromechanical systems.
- Familiarity with acoustic noise reduction and advanced NVH optimization techniques.
- Experience supporting controls teams through structural dynamics characterization and stability troubleshooting.
- Exposure to fast-paced hardware development environments with rapid design iteration cycles.
What does a successful 1X Team Member look like:Team members at 1X who thrive here are builders. They move fast, own their work completely, and treat time like it's the one thing you can't get back - because it is. They say what they mean, finish what they start, and hold themselves to a standard before anyone has to ask. We push each other to be better, and we do it with honesty and respect.
