Full Job Description
Job Summary: Ice Miller's finance and accounting team is looking for a high-caliber self-starter that will work closely with the Controller and Director of Finance to support the firm's accounting function. The Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for all general accounting functions, ensuring proper accounting processes and controls, as well as producing highly visible financial statements that drive the economic decision-making for the firm. This position will also play an integral role in the operational efficiency of the department, supporting initiatives around process improvement. The employee must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment with time-sensitive materials and maintain strict confidentiality due to the nature of the position.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Lead and execute monthly, and annual close processes
  • Prepare and review journal entries and general ledger activity
  • Perform and review account reconciliations, ensuring discrepancies are resolved, including the firm's capital budget and fixed asset processes.
  • Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Analyze variances and provide insights to management
  • Ensure compliance with modified GAAP and company accounting policies
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
  • Lead internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules
  • Maintain and improve accounting processes and internal controls
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams on financial matters
  • Assist with system implementations, process improvements, and specialprojects
  • Collaborate with Financial Systems team to ensure accounting software is operating as intended


Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 4-7+ years of accounting experience, with law firm experience strongly preferred


Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Experience with legal accounting platforms preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
