The Kind of Work You'll be Doing:
- Own end-to-end delivery of features and product initiatives from requirements discovery through deployment and iterative improvement
- Engage directly with ministry stakeholders to shape and refine requirements, translating ministry needs into well-scoped, technically sound solutions
- Use AI tools to accelerate development while maintaining full ownership of the resulting code, reviewing AI output critically, stepping in to modify or extend it directly, and recognizing and redirecting AI when its approach is flawed
- Oversee the quality and reliability of work within your area, validating outputs against ministry standards and adjusting approaches when needed
- Lead technical decision-making, including design tradeoffs, integration approaches, and build-versus-configure choices
- Mentor and provide specific, actionable technical guidance to less experienced engineers on the team, using code reviews as deliberate coaching moments rather than gatekeeping
- Contribute to function-level improvements in delivery practices, tooling, and technical standards
- Collaborate across stream disciplines - development, data, design, and stakeholder management - to deliver integrated, high-quality product solutions
- Document technical work clearly and maintain accurate records of system behavior, configurations, and decisions
