- 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, with a focus on building systems in C , Go, or Java.
- 3 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
- 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture in a production environment.
- Experience with low-level systems programming on Linux or other Unix-like operating systems.
Preferred qualifications:- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms applied to performance optimization and memory management in high-throughput systems.
- 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role, managing cross-functional engineering initiatives or guiding architectural decisions.
- Experience developing accessible technologies and fostering engineering practices.
- Experience with virtualization concepts (e.g., Kernel-Based Virtual Machines), containerized workloads (e.g., Docker and Kubernetes), and troubleshooting operating system or storage internals.

Responsibilities- Design, implement, and maintain the highly reliable sandbox environments that power Cloud Run, Google App Engine, and Cloud Functions.
- Improve the performance, reliability, and feature set of virtual machine interfaces related to storage, networking, memory management, and process interactions.
- Apply software principles and systems programming (primarily in C and Go) to optimize code paths and implement core execution features.
- Debug systems issues, understand root causes, and build resilient solutions.
- Contribute to the ongoing convergence and modernization of the underlying platform capabilities across the Google Cloud Serverless portfolio.
