About the TeamPractice Engineering (PX) owns the parts of NexHealth that people actually touch: our customer-facing web app, our iOS app, and the backend APIs behind them. Our users are front desk staff, office managers, and patients. We judge our work by one question: did it make their day easier?
We're a small, distributed team with very little process. That means a lot of room to shape what we build and how. It also means nobody will hand you a perfectly scoped ticket.
What You'll Do- Build and ship features across our React/TypeScript web app, our iOS app, and the backend services that power scheduling, payments, forms, messaging, and insurance verification.
- Own features end to end: define the problem, shape the solution with product and design, build it, roll it out, and keep iterating based on how it's actually used.
- Bring your own point of view on what we should build. You'll look for friction in how clinics and patients use the product, and you'll make the case for fixing it.
- Find the problems worth solving instead of waiting for well-defined work to arrive.
- Mentor other engineers and raise the bar on how the team designs, reviews, and ships.
- Influence decisions beyond your own work, shaping product direction and technical approach across the PX product.
What You'll Bring- 5+ years of experience as a software engineer building customer-facing products.
- Strong modern frontend skills in React and TypeScript, paired with real backend depth: API design, data modeling, and working with production databases. You're genuinely full-stack, not a backend engineer who occasionally touches the UI.
- Experience building and shipping features on iOS alongside web.
- A track record of owning customer-facing features from problem definition through design, launch, and iteration.
- Experience partnering closely with product and design as a peer, contributing ideas rather than just implementing specs.
- A high-ownership, self-directed working style that thrives in a small, remote team with little process.
- Clear written communication. On a distributed team, most decisions happen in writing.
Nice to Have- Hands-on experience building with AI or agentic systems.
CompensationActual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just the base salary component of NexHealth's total compensation package for employees. Other benefits may include stock options, an unlimited paid time off policy, and up to 100% coverage on medical, vision and dental insurance.
