PayPal, Inc. seeks Senior Software Engineer in San Jose, CA
Job Duties: Design, test, and implement new software modules, applications, and scalable mobile solutions consistent with business requirements concerning functionality, performance, availability, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules, and adherence to software development goals and principles. Analyze current software ecosystem and technical architecture to define, design, and implement complex, multi-tier distributed software applications consistent with business requirements. Drive architecture discussions, produce well-documented design docs, and participate in design and code reviews. Identify any product/functionality gaps and collaborate with internal product and technology teams to define the necessary solutions. Periodically review newly developed products to identify and proactively troubleshoot integration and/or technical issues as they arise. Create automated tests and deliver high-quality software code to production within a short development cycle in the continuous integration and delivery environment. Design and develop scalable, high-volume web services and platforms. Mentor and develop high-performing engineering teams. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, plus four years of experience in mobile application development. Employer will accept 10 years of experience in mobile application development.
Special Skill Requirements:
1. Three (3) years of experience developing, deploying, and maintaining mission-critical applications within the financial services/payment processing industry OR the aviation/aerospace industry.
2. Experience in technical leadership, including code review, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration.
3. Four (4) years of experience with Kotlin and Java for Android development.
4. Three (3) years of experience designing architecture and implementing Android applications using the MVVM design pattern, Coroutines, and Jetpack Compose.
5. Two (2) years of experience integrating mobile applications with external hardware devices via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and USB communication protocols.
6. Two (2) years of experience implementing and customizing AOSP (Android Open-Source Project) for specialized devices (e.g., kiosks, payment terminals).
7. Two (2) years of experience building secure transaction processing systems in a mobile environment, including compliance with industry security standards.
8. Two (2) years of experience with developing and optimizing high-concurrency systems, such as real-time flight booking and payment modules, capable of handling simultaneous user requests.
9. Experience establishing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and implementing comprehensive automated testing suites (Unit/UI Testing).
Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications:
The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is:

San Jose, California | Salary: $205,482.00-300,500.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
