OverviewMicrosoft AI Experiences Monetization enables advertisers to measure impact and optimize spend through reliable, privacy-conscious Ads conversions and measurement capabilities. The Measurements Engineering team builds the next generation of conversion systems that help advertisers understand customer actions, improve campaign performance, and make informed optimization decisions. Our platform processes conversion signals from Microsoft and partner ecosystems to deliver unified, compliant, and scalable measurement experiences.
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who is passionate about distributed systems, privacy-enhancing technologies, secure data processing, and building reliable production services with global impact.
Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.
Responsibilities- Design and implement backend services and data pipelines that power large-scale Ads conversions, attribution, and campaign measurement.
- Contribute to the evolution of a unified Ads conversions architecture supporting conversion tracking, attribution, incrementality, reporting, and optimization workflows.
- Own and improve high-throughput, SLA-driven ingestion and processing pipelines for partner data, ensuring reliability, resiliency, and operational excellence.
- Integrate external partners-including conversion, analytics, and measurement providers-using robust identity, onboarding, schema governance, and workflow mechanisms.
- Implement solid security, privacy, and compliance controls, including access policies, data-use restrictions, consent-aware processing, and auditable execution paths.
- Partner with product, data science, privacy, and security teams to deliver measurement capabilities that advertisers trust and depend on.
- Maintain a high bar for code quality, operational readiness, monitoring, incident response, and continuous improvement.
- Leverage AI dev tools across the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
QualificationsRequired Qualifications:- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements:Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 5+ years building large-scale distributed systems, backend services, or data infrastructure.
- Experience with large-scale data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, SQL-based pipelines) and cloud platforms (preferably Azure).
- Understanding of secure data processing, encryption, identity, and access control.
- Experience building and operating services with strict SLAs.
- Background in Ads conversions, advertising measurement, attribution, lift modeling, or privacy-preserving analytics.
- Experience building conversion tracking, attribution, event-processing, or high-scale measurement systems.
- Familiarity with privacy-enhancing technologies, consent management, data minimization, or privacy-conscious measurement approaches.
- Experience onboarding or integrating third-party conversion, analytics, or measurement partners.
- Solid problem-solving skills with a focus on reliability, observability, and system design.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year.
