Senior Software Engineer
This role has been designed as 'Hybrid' with a requirement that you will work on average 2 days per week from an HPE office.
Job Description:We are looking for a
Senior Software Engineer with strong expertise in networking systems to join a high-performing engineering team building a
leading SD-WAN platform.
In this role, you will design and develop
scalable, high-performance networking and security components, with a focus on
routing, packet processing, and embedded systems. You will work on complex, real-world problems involving multi-core systems, distributed networking, and performance optimization.
Key Responsibilities: - Design, develop, and maintain packet processing and routing software components
- Implement and enhance routing protocol functionality and network control-plane features
- Develop multi-threaded, high-performance software for embedded networking platforms
- Build integrations with third-party networking and security modules
- Prototype and validate new features for proof-of-concept and early-stage solutions
- Debug and resolve complex networking and system-level issues, including performance bottlenecks
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (QA, systems, product) to deliver production-ready features
Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- 6+ years of experience in embedded or systems software development
- Strong programming skills in C (C++/Python a plus)
- Experience building multi-threaded applications on Linux or similar systems
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, L2/L3 concepts)
- Hands-on experience with packet processing systems or dataplane development
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and system design skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, IS-IS)
- Familiarity with Linux kernel networking and system-level internals
- Knowledge of Software Defined Networking (SDN) and SD-WAN architectures
- Experience with high-performance and scalable systems design
- Exposure to network security technologies (e.g., VPN, IPsec, firewalling)
- Experience in distributed systems or performance tuning in production environments
