What Impact You'll HaveWe are seeking an experienced
Senior Software Engineer to contribute to core services across a large-scale, multi-team engineering initiative. In this hands-on role, you will design, build, and deploy resilient backend services, data pipelines, and system integrations that power mission-critical capabilities across the program.
As a senior individual contributor, you lead by example-writing clean, maintainable code, actively participating in system design, championing modern DevSecOps practices, and raising the technical bar through thoughtful peer reviews.
What You'll be Owning- Design, build, and maintain scalable, high-availability backend services and APIs primarily using Python. Apply solid software design patterns and maintain high code quality across distributed components.
- Implement reliable interfaces, data contracts, and integration layers across distributed services, external systems, and event-driven data streams.
- Author comprehensive automated test suites (unit, integration, regression) to guarantee data accuracy, edge-case coverage, and system resilience. Diagnose and resolve complex defects across the stack.
- Profile resource usage, query execution, and network bottlenecks to optimize throughput, reduce latency, and ensure efficient scale.
- Containerize services using Docker and manage Kubernetes deployments using Helm. Actively maintain and enhance CI/CD pipelines to ensure automated code analysis, unit testing, and vulnerability scanning run on every build.
- Partner closely with cross-functional agile teams, product owners, and technical stakeholders to break down complex system requirements into deliverable, production-ready increments.
What You Must Have- Active or current Top-Secret clearance
- Deep, production-level experience in Python (backend frameworks, data structures, asynchronous programming) and Bash scripting for task automation and system-level workflows.
- Strong hands-on experience with relational databases-specifically PostgreSQL (schema design, indexing, complex query optimization)-and Redis for state management, caching, or message queuing.
- Proven experience building multi-stage Docker images and configuring, deploying, and debugging workloads in Kubernetes using Helm.
- Working familiarity with Git workflows and building or integrating into CI/CD pipelines that enforce code quality gates, automated test coverage, and security vulnerability scanning.
- Bachelor's degree in STEM or a related field
- 15+ years of software engineering experience delivering production backend systems. Demonstrated ability to operate independently, debug unfamiliar codebases, and write clean, self-documenting code that serves as a benchmark for peers.
What Would be Nice to Have- Active or current Top-Secret clearancewith SCI access and polygraph (TS/SCI with poly).
- Privileged User eligibility (Security+ Certification or Customer accepted equivalent).
- Experience with distributed messaging or event-driven patterns (e.g., event streaming, message brokers).
- Familiarity with microservices architectures and API design standards (REST, gRPC).
- Exposure to monitoring, observability, and distributed tracing tools in Kubernetes environments.
- Knowledge of space-to-ground architectures, interfaces, Command and Control (C2) systems, and Mission Management (MM) systems.
