The ProblemSearch is one of the most critical tools at Flock, serving as the daily interface our customers depend on to follow leads, identify vehicles, and resolve cases faster. As our user base scales and product requirements evolve, delivering an intuitive, performant search interface requires deep frontend technical leadership and seamless fullstack context. You will champion our frontend web architecture, optimize high-traffic search experiences, and partner cross-functionally across a React, TypeScript, and Node stack.
What You'll Own- Lead the architectural evolution and frontend execution for core Search features across a React, TypeScript, and Node web stack.
- Partner closely with product, design, and backend engineering peers to translate user research and design mocks into performant user experiences.
- Build complex map-based data visualizations and geospatial interfaces to help users navigate high-density location data effortlessly.
- Champion frontend engineering standards, conduct thorough code reviews, and elevate technical execution across the Search engineering team.
- Monitor and optimize client-side performance, state management, and data retrieval for high-traffic, data-heavy web applications.
What This Role is Not- This isn't a backend-heavy or infrastructure-focused engineering role, your day-to-day focus centers primarily on frontend architecture and web user experiences.
- This is not a purely visual design or prototyping job, you will write production-grade code, maintain web services, and ship features directly into production.
- This isn't an isolated contribution role, you will participate in customer calls, actively engage in team retro items, and mentor peers through code reviews.
What You Bring- Mastery of modern frontend web technologies, application design patterns, and user interface development using React and TypeScript.
- Experience building map-based data visualizations using mapping libraries such as Mapbox or the Google Maps API.
- Fullstack working context with Node.js web services and modern API design concepts like REST, GraphQL, or gRPC.
- Practical understanding of backend microservice interaction patterns and relational databases like PostgreSQL to collaborate effectively with backend peers.
- Resourceful problem-solving skills in ambiguous technical environments with a track record of continuous learning.
- Familiarity with AWS managed services or frontend performance optimization for high-traffic applications is a plus.
Compensation In this role, you'll receive a starting salary between $170,000 and $190,000 as well as Flock Stock Options. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, as well as market indicators. Your recruiter will discuss this in depth with you during our first chat.
Some problems get solved faster in the same room, so we prioritize candidates in Atlanta and Boston. Hub-based roles mean real in-person time with your coworkers. Remote roles exist, and when a posting is open to remote work, it says so.
