Full Job Description
The Problem

As Flock expands its cloud footprint across thousands of deployed services and infrastructure components, empowering cloud engineering teams to move fast without sacrificing stability is essential to scaling our operations. Reducing operational friction across our software development lifecycle requires dedicated tooling, streamlined CI/CD pipelines, and robust developer experience workflows. You will eliminate developer toil, build resilient deployment systems, and elevate cloud engineering productivity across the entire organization.

What You'll Own
  • Architect and refine developer experience tooling and CI/CD pipelines to ensure cloud software changes are deployed reliably and efficiently.
  • Own and manage developer self-service tooling and operational processes surrounding secrets management, deployment rollbacks, and infrastructure best practices.
  • Partner with cloud engineering teams to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, observe production health, and reduce operational friction.
  • Participate in the Cloud SRE weekly on-call rotation to maintain production availability and resolve system incidents under pressure.
  • Write performant, production-grade automation code and tests in Go and TypeScript to support cloud developer experience workflows.

What This Role is Not
  • This isn't a traditional product feature development position, your primary customers are internal cloud engineers and your product is their developer velocity.
  • This is not a rigid, static operations desk, you will switch contexts and pivot priorities swiftly to address urgent cloud infrastructure challenges.
  • This isn't a manual gatekeeping or ticketing role, you will build automated self-service systems that empower engineering teams to own their deployments safely.

What You Bring
  • Demonstrated experience writing production-quality code in Go or TypeScript alongside automated testing suites.
  • Hands-on proficiency with cloud-native infrastructure tooling including Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, GitHub Actions, and AWS infrastructure.
  • Practical understanding of observability, distributed troubleshooting, CI/CD refinement, and disaster recovery principles.
  • Capability to navigate context switching effectively and operate asynchronously in a high-trust, collaborative environment.

Compensation

In this role, you'll receive a starting salary between $140,000 and $165,000 as well as Flock Stock Options. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, as well as market indicators. Your recruiter will discuss this in depth with you during our first chat.

Some problems get solved faster in the same room, so we prioritize candidates in Atlanta and Boston. Hub-based roles mean real in-person time with your coworkers. Remote roles exist, and when a posting is open to remote work, it says so.
