Role Overview

ID.me is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Front End to join the Applications team, building the SuperApp - ID.me's web experience that helps members discover where their verified identity unlocks benefits, offers, and services across commerce, government, healthcare, and travel.

This role covers the SuperApp's customer-facing web surfaces, which include the Browser Extension along with other front-end experiences such as the Home Page, Life Events, and Government section. As team priorities evolve, this role may also extend into the broader ID.me Shop web experience. This position will work from our Mountain View, CA office five days per week.
Key Responsibilities

• Build and Maintain SuperApp Web Experiences: Build and maintain the SuperApp's customer-facing web surfaces - including the Browser Extension's web-facing UI (content scripts, popup, in-page injected components) as well as other experiences like the Home Page and Life Events - using React and TypeScript.
• Implement Discovery & Offer Detection: Build contextual offer discovery, coupon/cashback detection, and in-page notification patterns that surface relevant offers as members browse and shop online.
• Integrate with Platform APIs: Integrate with Shopping Graph and Developer Portal APIs for merchant, offer, and eligibility data rather than hardcoding business logic client-side.
• Extend into Shop as Needed: Contribute to the broader ID.me Shop web experience alongside SuperApp surfaces as roadmap priorities evolve.
• Collaborate with Design and Product: Work closely with Design and Product to turn discovery and personalization concepts into working, member-centered web UI.
• Performance, Accessibility & Reliability: Ensure shipped SuperApp features meet ID.me's standards for performance, accessibility, and cross-browser reliability (Chrome, Edge, Firefox).
• Production Support: Provide production support and maintenance for shipped features, including triaging and resolving incidents and bugs.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Strong frontend engineering experience (typically 4+ years, or equivalent: 2+ years with a Master's degree)
• Experience building or maintaining browser extensions (Chrome/Edge/Firefox), including content scripts, background/service workers, and Manifest V3
• Solid production experience with React (and Next.js) - required for adoption, not only for wrappers

We'd Love to See

• Deep expertise in vanilla JavaScript, HTML, and the DOM
• Hands-on experience shipping native Web Components in production (Custom Elements, templates, Shadow DOM, slots, events)
• Experience with micro-frontend architectures or contributing to a shared internal design system
• Experience building personalization, recommendation, or discovery-style UI
• Experience building e-commerce, marketplace, or discovery UI (cashback, coupons, affiliate/offer detection)
• Familiarity with identity, benefits, or credential-based access concepts
• Experience with UI component libraries or design systems
• Familiarity with design tokens, theming, and scalable CSS (custom properties, shared stylesheets)
• Proven collaboration with design on system-level UI
• Strong grasp of accessibility standards and cross-browser behavior
• Experience integrating with REST/GraphQL APIs
• Experience optimizing performance for lightweight, injected, or embedded UI
• AI-native engineering practices - comfortable using AI tooling (e.g., code generation, test coverage, documentation) to accelerate development

The annual base salary listed does not include a company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity and benefits which will be determined based on experience, skills, education, relevant training, geographic location and role.
