Full Job Description
Everforth ECS is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to work in the National Capital Region covering the Pentagon, Falls Church, and Fairfax. Please Note: This position is contingent upon contract award.

The War Data Platform (WDP) is a key initiative within the U.S. Department of War's (DoW) AI-First strategy introduced in early 2026. The WDP focuses on operational warfighting data and aims to accelerate the deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) on the battlefield. The WDP extends to Unclassified, Secret, and Top Secret environments, and supports collaboration between Combatant Commands, Joint Staff directorates, Senior Executive Service leaders, and operational analysts.

The Senior Software Engineer is a principal technical contributor within the WDP software engineering team, responsible for architecting, developing, and delivering mission-grade software capabilities across NIPRNet, SIPRNet, and JWICS environments in support of the DoW's AI-First strategy. This role operates at the intersection of application development, DevSecOps pipeline engineering, and platform security, and is expected to set the technical standard for the team while driving delivery across complex, multi-enclave software lifecycles.
• Executes complex software engineering activities by transforming system design artifacts, user requirements, and mission workflows into scalable software capabilities supporting War Data Platform (WDP) Core Integration operations on NIPRNet, SIPRNet, and JWICS.
• Develops advanced application features, data-processing logic, and automation modules using Python, Java, Go, JavaScript, Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes to expand mission analytics, platform services, and customer-facing tools.
• Leads complex feature development, conducts in-depth code reviews, and drives high-volume story-point delivery across sprint cycles.
• Owns the application architecture, resolves design conflicts, defines the security-by-design baseline, and establishes immutable infrastructure patterns through reusable Terraform and Ansible modules.
• Reviews all code for security and compliance alignment and architects end-to-end pipeline workflows with clearly defined quality gates.
• Creates baseline STIG and container-hardening profiles, automates compliance reporting, and leads remediation strategies across mission applications.
• Designs Infrastructure-as-Code and Configuration-as-Code patterns that enforce environmental consistency, reduce configuration drift, and support repeatable provisioning across the full software lifecycle.
• Integrates automated testing components into continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines to support unit testing, regression analysis, compliance validation, performance testing, and mission-aligned acceptance checks.
• Designs observability stacks, leads incident post-mortems, and authors high-level architecture and compliance documentation.
• Evaluates emerging technologies and drives adoption strategies that strengthen mission resilience.
• Collaborates with platform engineering, cybersecurity operations, configuration-management teams, and DevSecOps pipeline engineers to resolve integration challenges and enhance reliability across mission applications.
• Delivers source-code updates, technical documentation, performance summaries, and enhancement recommendations that strengthen resilience, expand capability coverage, and improve operational effectiveness across the War Data Platform (WDP) Core Integration ecosystem.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Current Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
• 10-12 years of progressively responsible experience in software engineering, with demonstrated expertise designing, developing, and delivering mission-critical applications in enterprise or multi-enclave environments.
• Expert proficiency in two or more modern programming or scripting languages such as Python, Java, Go, or JavaScript, combined with hands-on experience using containerization and orchestration tools including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Demonstrated experience designing and managing DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines, including Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform and Ansible, automated testing integration, STIG compliance, and container-hardening practices in classified or government cloud environments.
• Experience developing and deploying software in DoW-compliant cloud environments such as AWS GovCloud or AWS Secret Region, including familiarity with cloud-native services, observability tooling, and security and accreditation processes applicable to multi-enclave platforms.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, with a proven ability to weigh the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and identify the most appropriate solution.
• Highly developed interpersonal and oral/written communication skills, with the ability to effectively and professionally interact with a diverse set of stakeholders (from peers to end-users to executive management).
