Full Job Description
Your New Role

DTC's many software engineering teams build applications for the web, mobile, tablets, connected TVs, consoles, and other streaming devices. The Boundary Services team is responsible for building and maintaining the Gateway, Service Mesh and a few microservices that provide common functionality to the client and backend services. We are a fast-growing, global engineering group crucial to WBD's future.

We are hiring a senior software engineer who will solve problems related to API gateway concerns, cross-cluster service meshes, authentication/authorization, and the management of large-scale Istio deployments across many AWS accounts. The engineer will design processes/workflows, with the help of a collaborative team environment using modern, rigorous software development practices that emphasize testability, repeatability, and self-service automation.

Your Role Accountabilities

  • You are a recognized subject matter expert related to one or more production software systems. You have demonstrated a pattern of independently shipping high quality features / changes in those or similar systems. You work on problems of diverse scope.
  • You create functional level impact and deliver more complex features. You also help drive clarity and define problems proactively.
  • You devise solutions based on limited information and precedent to
adapt existing approaches to resolve issues. You use evaluation, judgment, and interpretation to select the right course of action.
  • You need little oversight to work within the team's software development lifecycle practices. You deliver high-quality results the first time and improve code, documentation, and results with each iteration. You are autonomous in driving implementations. Your work is done independently and is reviewed at critical points. You help create an inclusive and supportive engineering culture.
  • You are persuasive in influencing your peers through code reviews or design reviews. Your team trusts your work and the feedback that you give to them on their work. You are an effective communicator as exemplified by your technical documentation, and your interactions with stakeholders and adjacent teams. You adapt communication style to differing audiences and can advise others on difficult matters.
  • You think about the long-term health of your code, your monitoring, your alerting, and your documentation. You nurture all of these in parallel to your software development responsibilities.
  • You help newcomers to be productive with the team's processes. You optimize team mechanisms to drive efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years' experience with technologies used on our stack including Python, K8's, Terraform, bash, and CI/CD systems
  • 3+ years' experience with Cloud Technology (AWS or Azure preferred) or strong familiarity and demonstrated ability to become expert
  • Familiarity with networking concepts in microservice architectures
  • 1+ year experience with AI technologies
  • A passion for building developer tooling, automation, and platform solutions that will deliver improvements for our internal and public customers
  • You deliver high-quality results the first time and improve code, documentation, and results with each iteration. Your team trusts your work.
