The Prestart Domain team is the core of the end to end Joining Amazon experience, responsible for 100% global hiring traffic from various recruiting sources. All subsequent onboarding and HR processes depend on the HR profiles and related data Prestart systems ingest into the HR system. IT is core to the success of the Joining Amazon journey as well as the employee journey.
Key job responsibilities
- Architect and build business critical, highly available, large scale, distributed systems
- Lead software architecture and design reviews and influence software architecture across our organization and other Amazon software organizations
- Design and build software with quality, robustness, and Amazon sized scale as top priorities
- Collaborate across technical teams, UX design teams, product and program teams, customers, and stakeholders
- Identify the right technologies to delight customers by working backwards from customer needs and working directly with customers to test prototypes and incorporate feedback
- Coach and mentor engineers on the team to foster a supportive culture of collaboration and delivery to high standards
- Get support and mentorship from senior engineers and leaders
- Define and drive SW best practices including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, agile development, build processes, and testing

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
