About the role: What's in the Box

We are a close-knit group of engineers of different stripes - developers, designers, and product owners - who are working together to solve interesting e-commerce and supply chain problems around how people eat. Sometimes, this involves implementing features to improve the user
journey and making it easier for our customers to buy amazing food. Other times, this means creating stable software solutions that keep our distribution centers running.

We are looking for an engineer to help implement solutions & write beautiful code, working with various team members as we build out our consumer facing applications & the infrastructure that supports them. As a member of our Toronto team, you'll work with highly-skilled engineers, who in collaboration with our other global teams, have turned HelloFresh into the #1 meal delivery service in the world!

What You'll Do: The Recipe

• Design, develop, and deploy software solutions across HelloFresh markets and brands, with a focus on building great experiences for our customers and internal users
• Take ownership of features end-to-end, from understanding the problem and shaping the solution through development, quality engineering, deployment, and monitoring
• Work closely with Product Owners, Designers, and other engineers to turn customer and business needs into simple, scalable solutions
• Build modern, accessible, and performant frontend experiences using React, TypeScript, and related technologies
• Contribute across the full stack, including APIs, backend services, integrations, and data where needed
• Participate in technical discovery, architecture, and design discussions, helping the team make pragmatic technical decisions
• Apply DevOps practices and engineering best practices to build, deploy, and operate reliable software
• Use AI coding agents as part of your everyday engineering workflow to explore, plan, develop, debug, and improve software
• Continuously develop your technical skills and share knowledge with the team through code reviews, pairing, mentoring, and technical discussions

What You'll Bring: The Ingredients

• An active, solution-oriented member of an autonomous, cross-functional agile team, collaborating with Product Owners, Designers, Backend and Frontend Engineers, and other stakeholders
• 4+ years of professional software development experience working in an agile software development team
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with React and TypeScript, or a similar modern JavaScript framework such as Angular or Vue
• Strong understanding of frontend architecture, component design, state management, API integration, performance, and accessibility
• Proven experience delivering end-to-end features, taking ownership from initial implementation through deployment and monitoring
• Hands-on experience with continuous delivery and deploying customer-facing applications
• Experience writing unit, integration, and functional quality engineering tests, as well as working with practices such as TDD or BDD
• Solid understanding of backend architecture, with the ability to work with APIs, service contracts, and backend engineers to deliver end-to-end solutions
• Experience with server-side technologies such as Next.js, Nest.js, Remix, Node.js, or similar
• Proficiency with GraphQL and/or REST APIs, with a working knowledge of SQL for data exploration and product requirements
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Honeycomb, Sentry, Datadog, or New Relic
• Experience working with experimentation, such as A/B or multivariate testing
• Comfortable working with cloud-based applications, CI/CD, and modern DevOps practices
• A solid understanding of product engineering principles and a willingness to challenge requirements and help identify the right solution for the customer and business
• Working knowledge of one or more backend languages such as Node.js, Python, Go, or Java
• Solid hands-on experience with AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot beyond casual experimentation. You use AI as a thought partner to navigate unfamiliar codebases, explore solutions, plan and implement changes, and improve your development workflow. You understand that the quality of AI output depends heavily on the context, specifications, constraints, and examples you provide, and you have practical habits around reviewing, testing, and validating AI-generated work.
• Bonus if you have experience with mobile app development, either through React Native or native iOS/Android
